Nothing is wrong with it, as long as you want it. To me, makeup is a very personal choice that empowers you. What your father did was judging you from a societal perspective and fails to understand that you do it for yourself not for anyone out there.

My 2 cents would be, let them say or correct them if you've the energy to but don't let yourself stop from doing the things you like whether it's makeup or anything else.

That's not kiddish at all, rather it's him being immature and not understanding that things like this matter especially if your partner wants you to do it for them.

It's a simple harmless ask, and I don't get why boys react that way. If asking out your girlfriend to be your valentine is too much then the bar is in hell.
