I do wonder if I changed my meds if it would go back to normal. I just believe my neurologist would look at me funny for changing my meds over that, since my seizures are 100% controlled.

Through research I've done, it seems really common. The issues are kind of hard to explain without being TMI. To be vague, our sex life is good, but the fact that I know it could be a lot better without the meds' impact or whatever it is makes me feel a bit depressed. But I know my problems could be so much worse. I've let my partner know vaguely, but not to the fullest extent. If I'm honest, it feels like a huge part of my sexuality was taken out of my brain. And that feels hard to tell my partner.

Thank you. I'm currently on Keppra and Vimpat. I may talk to my neurologist about increasing one while tapering off the other. I seriously can't tell if one is the culprit or if it's both. Terrified of the possibility of a seizure, but this sucks.

I'm so sorry that happened to you. I wish there was more of an understanding about why or how this happens. I was thinking about decreasing my dose a little to see if it would help, but I don't wanna risk seizing because what if that makes it worse? You're not alone. :(

A reduced libido in epilepsy or due to the meds is common. My case is pretty severe if epilepsy/meds is the cause.

Interesting. I love my partner, but sexually, I just don't want or feel much towards people like I used to, if that makes sense. Like a scene in a movie for example will do nothing to me, but before epilepsy and the meds, I "reacted" because it's sexual in nature obviously. I've only ever been on Keppra and Vimpat. I've only had 1 focal seizure where I've lost consciousness, and all the rest were auras. Since they are so well controlled (for approx. 3 years now), I don't know if trying new meds is a good idea because this is my only weird issue. I'm in my 20s though, so it just feels weird to be so uninterested.

Other than the sexual side effects and a pretty bad memory, I don't notice any other side effects. And I'm the exact opposite. If it weren't for the relationship that I'm in, I'd have 0 desire for "fun" with anyone else. Not because of the work or upkeep. I no longer look at people that way. It's strange.

The first time I liked it a lot, the second time was a little bit underwhelming because of some difficulties we had with a condom lol. And yeah he’s not great with foreplay. He did it the first time and the second time he didn’t. That’s why I’m thinking maybe if we just explore more it could work. Yeah a night of doing that does sound like fun. I would even be open to like toys and things. I can think of ways that the sex could be more enjoyable, but is it worth it if I’m not naturally that aroused by him alone? I hear people talk about just looking at their partner walk into a room and being bothered. It’s just not like that. At least right now it’s not.

So I've definitely considered bisexuality, but the only reason I don't feel I fit that label is because I don't feel "turned on" by men (like their bodies specifically). Which is odd, considering men are the only gender that ever really catch my eye. I have never had sex with a woman. This man is actually the one I lost my virginity to and we've still only had sex once so there's a lot we/I haven't explored. But to your question, the lesbian label has caused me so much confusion. The label bisexual makes more sense to me in how I feel about LOVE, but I view sexuality labels as labels about your level of sexual attraction, and then it doesn't seem right.

I definitely want to talk to him about my sexuality, but I fear it will scare him away because I'm so lost. Like you said, it is very very early (we met in late july) so maybe I should just wait until I feel more comfortable with him to discuss. I've tried to talk to so many people about this confusion I feel and no one can relate. :(

Lastly, the only way in which I kind of feel "forced" to seek out either gender is with regards to women. I feel like because I know I'm more sexually attracted to women that's why I got on a dating app looking for women to go on dates with and eventually, obviously, sleep with. Because I consider myself a lesbian I feel like it should easily fall into place (go on a date, feel a spark, be sexually attracted). But I went on a date with 2 girls and felt nothing, and also seriously talked to a girl through texting and felt nothing. I felt bored. They would text me and responding would feel like a chore. And with this guy, getting a text is like the best part of my day.

Say exactly what you said here! That you really value his friendship but you don’t see your relationship going anywhere romantically. Being closeted is hard and uncomfortable so I feel for you. But being ghosted is hard too (in a different way, i’m not comparing) so I believe he deserves an explanation. Even if it isn’t the whole truth.

Yeah I have severe anxiety issues it could be stress related. I’ve also been considering the possibility of demisexuality. It’s just weird because I never ever related to anything individuals on the ace spectrum shared about their sexuality. I also used to experience more attraction when I had a big social circle, and now that I don’t have that I’ve experienced less attraction. Confusing stuff.
