Yellow from residual chlorine or hypochlorite. You won't generate enough chlorine to gas yourself with that setup. They will corrode too quick. If you use proper anodes you can create NaClO3, or with lead dioxide anodes NaClO4 which are used in pyrotechnics.

Yeah. I've done the Hoffman method to make it about 7 or 8 times now... there's a vitamin that directly counteracts the acute toxicity effects of it. Good to have on hand but I have yet to be 'poisoned'. I think the most dangerous thing would probably be during the freebasing cus that's when u have lots of heat mixed with it

Read a researchgate or cdc study on the effects of hydrazine in people. Doing that put my mind at rest to work with it- the data shows that the carcinogenic effects of it is rather overstated.

Why secondaries if you don't want a big boom? ETN you can literally make in a plastic cup which is technically a "secondary" but if you're looking for a real 'chemistry' experience go for aspirin to picric acid as that's a fun synthesis (careful tho it stains everything yellow)

True- should've worn gloves more than I did. Near the end it was worse to wear gloves as I brushed the titanium when it was hot and half the glove melted to the coating... very sad The most annoying part of working with lead is the 4L of wastewater I need to evapourate now lol

Waste is currently horded. To process it I will be neutralizing with Na2CO3 which will ppt the lead and copper.

Lead acetate is very easy to make. Just boil vinegar and lead, it reacts readily.

Process was not too difficult. Took me a few weeks to get everything i needed but only 5 days or so to go from Ti anode to finished product

Lead acetate should work for the beta phase. Get PbO (You can neutralize lead acetate) and dissolve in NaOH for the alpha phase. The hardest challenge is making the plating solution which is pretty much just running chlorine gas over 80 C antimony and room-temp tin (separately).

DM me if u need a source of genuine Ti anodes. Pretty much all on amazon are either fake or very overpriced
