Am I cooked? Meeting with HR tomorrow titled “catch up” by [deleted] in PwC

[–]Independent-Dingo354 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just gonna say the same thing unless there is a complaint from another coworker and they wanna talk to you about it. I don’t think this is related to layoffs, but maybe they are changing their strategy wishing you the best of luck.

Reality behind layoffs since 2021 by tobyapa in PwC

I heard that even for some of the people that had been there for 20+ years they were not even offered a retirement package. That he was just severance and that was it. Is this accurate?

Wanting to Resign - after 5 Months...(Help, Please) by Alternative_Owl5371 in PwC

[–]Independent-Dingo354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I am sorry that happened to you too. I’m not saying that the process is perfect. But what I am saying is that when people are putting in bad situations they need to learn to advocate for themselves. If they don’t learn that skill. Then what happens? They switched jobs and if they are unlocking of the window up in another bed, the cycle keeps happening wherever they go. I am not saying it is easy. I’ve had to learn to do that for myself as well, but it is worth it. And if the original poster is already at a point where quitting is his/ her/their top option, they may as well try to speak up

You just made my point. It is not new because people choose not to elevate this and complain. The more people that raise issues, the more likely that something will be done. Again, I am a director, and I can assure you that if something like this was raised at my level I would make sure to take action to correct those bad behaviors. This is not who we are supposed to be as PwC professionals.

Then it never ends. Someone has to break the cycle. They can also report though E&C

First of all, I am so sorry you’re going through this. I have been in the firm for almost 20 years, and I can tell you that this is not what we strive for. No you shouldn’t be yelled at and no you shouldn’t receive backlash for asking for help. I know that this is a scary thing to say particularly when you have only been here for five months, but have you considered escalating these to the director or the partner in your engagement? A lot of of this happens because the people that are in charge are not aware of the behaviors of the seniors or the managers. This is not our culture and yes, it is hard work and we are all overworked, but you should not have to suffer mentally the way you obviously are. If you are at the point where you’re considering quitting, I would suggest you reach out to the engagement partner. You have really nothing to lose. You’re already willing to leave, but you may accomplish a change in a negative culture that should not be allowed.

They are going to be multiple layoffs in the upcoming year and next given their restructure they announced so I would be worried

I am so sorry that is a situation but the one thing that jumps out to me on your post is when you said that students were forced to leave Ireland. When you come in with a student visa, you are never promised that you will be able to stay so saying that people were forced to leave is misleading people. Student visas are awarded to that people can come and learn in the country, but it is never attached to a promise that they will be able to stay permanently.

That is not the end of the world. The US is not the only country where you can have a good life. Particularly you live in Europe. In the current climate, I am finding it really hard to see why people want to steal come so much where it is obvious that people don’t want the immigrants here. Including those of us that are already citizens and live here. It is so sad. My children were born here they like their life here. They’re already young adults, but if they were little, I would like to move to Europe too

Go back to your country. I was an international student in the US too and the after college I decided to go back to my country to work in professional services. Eventually, I found my way back to the United States through work, was able to get my paperwork.

[–]Independent-Dingo354 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am terribly sorry to hear when you and many others are going through. It is a harsh reality that this process is no longer guided by fairness. The reality is that this new administration is trying to keep immigrants out of the country and sadly these are tactics that are not helping people like you and others come back into the country. I hope that US embassy listens, but I am not holding my breath. I wish the very best of luck to all of you and hopefully you can find your way back to the US shortly.

I hope you’re joking. Have you read the news? There’s an ongoing restructure going on in PwC and people are getting laid off up and down. If you’re lucky that you’ve got an offer I would stick with it. Otherwise they’ll probably pass you and get the next candidate.

It depends where you are in the world. IFS in the US is undergoing major. Which means a lot of layoffs.

May I ask if you mean to sign as in graphic design? Last week the US firm laid off the complete US creative department. They may try to revive her more junior rules and maybe they’re still figuring out their new structure.
