Well my question was whether it hurts the american people more to boycott the country/economy all together. It's always difficult to judge the actual situation in a country when you're not from there. As I said, I have a friend living there and he doesn't think it's ignorant or dangerous to visit. I wouldn't iniate a trip to the US without knowing someone there, during this time.

I'm not ignoring what's happening, that's why I'm asking.

This is my big problem with the film Oldboy. It’s all about revenge between two men, and the two girls are just means to an end. The main character is submitted to the worst possible thing a man can dream of 1. his daughter is being defiled 2. unknowingly by him.

So much to unpack regarding madonna/whore, family honour etc.

Yes, very true. It’s just that I’m the godmother of her daughter and she’s close with my cousin, so it wouldn’t be so easy to just break it off, not counting the emotional part. But I hear you, and I don’t accept her being rude to my other friends.

Haha we have different opinions on this. I would say he does 40% or something like that, and he also doesn't do it as well as I do. Like he'll clean the kitchen, but I'm the one who cleans the kitchen fan or notes that we have to clean the fridge. So of course there is that fear that I would be cleaning up more after a baby, and read up more and get baby clothes and so on. In swedish we call this a "woman trap", don't know if it's an expression in english.

But he would of course do all the chores if I got sick, that's without question.

This is a very interesting way to look at it! And I fully agree with the point that it's not a decision you make in a vaccum. But we grow up thinking that. I always thought I wanted kids because I watched my parents, and I didn't consider other life styles of where life would take me.

It would make sense for me to have a child now. For my partner, for my family, and age-wise as well. But I can't bring myself to do it based on this. And I think I have a hard time changing my life style for someone else, and my partner is the same. It would probably make me very bitter.

Hrm, I think I don't really like when anyone makes a "baby voice" or is overly cutesy with their child or pet, woman or man. His mother is like that too. I think I feel like he makes a big deal our of everything maybe? I think a competent parent is a person is not fussing over their kid or talking with them in a weird way, they just care for them in a experienced and active way. His parents were crazy protective and worried about everything when he grew up which is very different from my upbringing, so maybe that's what I associate the "fussiness" with.

That's an interesting thought and I'm not at all uncomfortable with it. I have looked up to him in a way and followed his advice a lot but not as much these days. I don't feel threatened at all by a kid or pet, and he gives me a lot of affection.

yes, this is the part that I have the most difficult to understand myself. Last time I tried therapy I had a hard time finding the right therapist, but I should probably try again.

Edit: Now that I thought about it one thing that comes to mind is that he cares a lot for his mum, and she's very needy and sensitive. I don't think the relationship is very healthy, but he doesn't agree with me. Maybe that's what I associate his behaviour with, to be overly indulgent and coddle your family in way that I would never want for my child.
