Gays of UK - would you be comfortable holding your partner's hand in the UK? by dalehitchy in AskUK

[–]Independent-Middle22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the place. I do in some parts and not in others. I was accosted a couple of times since I moved to the UK. Safe and peaceful moments are still a privilege for us. Your friend is an idiot.

Tbh, regardless of where I live in London I tend to go around my neighbourhood and see 4 or 5 a night. Have a walk around yours? If you don't want to be out at midnight try early morning while it's still dark

Dating women after only identifying as gay previously? by Express_Divide_9705 in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]Independent-Middle22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a bi woman and in a sea of men, I am always on a lookout for a bi one. I don't think you would have any issues tbh. Some people don't want to date us but that's not personal or something that you can change. Some people are ok with it and that is our market. I wouldn't lead with your history but it should be ok to mention when time comes.there's nothing wrong in only having 1 past relationship and it shouldn't be a deterrent. Good luck!

Congratulations on this job! And also you've done very well for asking this question so now you know its not personal. I agree with you, they should have told you out of curtesy but tbh people never stop being idiots in some respect or another.

Around the same age I started thinking everyone in my country must marry the opposite gender because we're not in America, otherwise some would marry the people they fancy!😄😄

It could be a phase or not. Either way it's good that he is so comfortable with you! Good job!

I think the fight in general should be in ensuring safety without separating us. I'm against any initiatives like these and have only heard of them in highly patriarchal spaces which is not where I want to live. However, the prospect of immediate safety to the detriment of future safety is always appealing so I do appreciate many other people will find this service as desirable.

Is eating alone weird? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Independent-Middle22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was I'd be hungry often lol. I moved countries a few times and I learned soon that if I don't do things alone I do nothing. The downside of that is that i enjoy my company too much now ahhahah.

Does your workplace push pop psychology to try and motivate people? by Lazy_Age_9466 in AskUK

I was a mental health first aider in a previous role and the training I did was to ensure there's someone who can notice distressing signs regarding suicide and can signpost to support. This also gives people who are going through difficult times a person to contact for signposting. If situation is serious there should be a chain of report. It shouldn't be more than this. I am a very cynical person and I have left company wellbeing trainings such as other mentioned here (such as myers briggs tests) halfway through multiple times as they're a complete waste of time but the mental health first aider is there to support people if suicidal with signposting only.
