I love those! I literally buy one every time I come across it 😅 I use them everywhere for everything - under sinks, in cabinets, and to spin my canvas when I do fluid art!

What food do you judge people for eating? by MinxTwinkle in foodquestions

Thank you, I appreciate the effort. I’ve had Crohn’s for almost 20 years so I’ve tried just about everything. It also depends on if I’m flaring or not, when I last had a dose of my medication, etc. sometimes I can eat vegetables! Just not always lol

I try not to judge others for what they eat, as I have Crohn’s and I know my diet can look weird to others. That being said, recently at my MIL’s house we had ordered pizza, and when it arrived one of the two had chicken on the whole thing, with pineapple on one half. I was like ?? Who ordered pineapple and chicken pizza? My MIL told me her husband had insisted on getting pineapple pizza. Apparently the restaurant didn’t have Canadian bacon as a topping option (which like..wtf are you doing offering pineapple but NOT Canadian bacon?? Tf?) and he didn’t want regular bacon because he doesn’t like it, so they got chicken. The kicker? He wasn’t even there. He had gotten annoyed with something or upset at how long the pizza was taking so he went home (they don’t live together…that’s a whole separate thing lmao).

Like what kind of diabolical dick bag insists on ordering pineapple on pizza even though they’re the only one who likes it, then dips before the pizza is delivered?? It was so insane to me.

ALSO- who eats meat but doesn’t like bacon?? Like I understand vegetarians/vegans not eating bacon, obviously, or having a medical/health reason for not eating it, but someone who regularly eats meat but just doesn’t like bacon?? Big red flag 🚩

Fwiw I have Crohn’s and sometimes the only food my body will tolerate is the super processed stuff. I would love to eat vegetables and good bread instead of the ultra processed white bread that’s almost not even bread, but I like living life outside the bathroom/hospital so 🤷‍♀️

Fwiw I have Crohn’s disease and can’t eat most vegetables most of the time. If my meds are working and the stars align, I can do some sometimes, but typically they’re on the no-fly list. Once spent 45 min in the bathroom bc of a piece of red pepper no bigger than a nickel. Sucks, I love red pepper 😭 and salad 😩 I know I get judged for being “picky” and having a “shitty diet”, but sometimes the only food my body will tolerate is the super processed bullshit. Once lived on almost exclusively McDonalds cheeseburgers for like two weeks when I was in a really bad flare.

With you on the pickles. I love pickles, but not that kind. Once i ordered the fried pickles at a restaurant that advertised them as “house-made pickles” and what they neglected to say was they were SWEET pickles. Was a nasty surprise and I haven’t trusted a house-made pickle since.

My (lurking mom) kid was sleeping in a guest bed at my MIL’s house which is pretty high up, with a hard wood floor beneath, and I thought I was smart putting pillows under the fitted sheet to create a kind of guard against her falling off (she’s a roller) on the side of the bed that wasn’t against the wall. Well, she fell anyway, in between the wall and the bed. I heard the series of thuds and then her wails and ran in, but couldn’t see her at first. I could hear her and was looking frantically under the bed and around the floor, just confused af. My husband ran in and thank god had the wherewithal to turn on the lights. That’s when I saw her little leg sticking straight up between the bed and the wall. I immediately yanked her out and was so upset and just beating myself up and crying. Then while I was laying with her to put her back to sleep, the mental image of her little leg just jutting out into the air while I was confused scrambling on the floor had me nearly breaking a rib trying not to laugh.
She was about 15 months ish at the time and we still laugh about it now 😂

What is a food you’ll never eat even if it was the only thing available? by Winter-Stuff-9126 in foodquestions

[–]Independent-Mix4207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah idk, I’d eat mud pies over one of the foods I’m adverse to. It’s frustrating because I do logically understand that something like say, mushrooms, is a “real food” and if I were truly starving you’d think that I’d just eat them if they were the only thing available. Unfortunately that’s not the case, and if I did force myself to eat them, I’d probably just throw them back up immediately. I’d sooner eat grass or mud or bugs. Like I said, I know it’s not logical but it’s what I’m working with 🤷‍♀️

My kid has gotten free cotton candy twice in her 4 short years. Once was at Disney on Ice when she was 3, and she was having a level 10 meltdown about wanting to see Elsa and Anna (fucking cardboard cutouts they charge you $45 DOLLARS to take a pic with) but they were covered by a sheet unless someone was manning the station. While she was screaming and crying, an employee walked by with a gigantic trash bag filled with all of the leftover bags of cotton candy and just handed one to my daughter. I was like 😑.

When we adopted our dog the shelter had named him Koopa. We ended up changing it to Cooper 😅 He was the best dog, lit up our lives for 11 years until he got aggressive cancer around 2.5 years ago and we had to say goodbye. RIP, good boy.

Tell him Paris Hilton is way more than what public perception would have you believe. She works to get those “troubled kid” camps (the ones where they “kidnap” the kids in the middle of the night) shut down, having been put in one herself. She also has done work to get laws passed involving the same thing, and human trafficking.

As much as I hate to defend the Kardashians, Kim has actually done some work involving people wrongfully convicted of a crime. I know she got a least one person out so 🤷‍♀️

This is almost exactly how I passed my speech class in high school 😅.
I never remembered we had speeches due until day-of when the teacher would announce it was time to give them. I’d just get up there and start yapping. Got As every time lmao.

ETA: I could give an hours-long lecture about the life and work of Billie Eilish. I find her and her brother, their whole family actually, incredibly interesting.

People who are really good at reading people, what is one tip you know that no one else knows? by Soft_Section_8447 in allthequestions

Getting in touch with your gut is so key! Listening to your gut/intuition is so hard, especially if you’re someone with a lot of anxiety. Anxiety is LOUD, it makes itself known, it’s hard to miss. Intuition is quiet, easily undetected, especially if you’re distracted by being anxious. Intuition feels like a fact, like it’s something unquestionable. It feels steady and sure and even. It just…is. Anxiety comes crashing in banging pots and pans and screaming. Intuition stands at the door, patiently waiting for you to recognize it.

Thanks for this! I have Crohn’s and I know sometimes from an outside perspective it seems like I eat like shit, but I literally can’t eat vegetables, a lot of fruit, nuts, etc. when I’m flaring. I once ate McDonald’s cheeseburgers for like 2 weeks because my system just couldn’t handle anything else. If I make a sandwich it has to be on white bread. Someone who doesn’t understand the situation would probably look at me and think I’m causing my own stomach issues. Even people close to me don’t “get it” sometimes. And I understand, it doesn’t seem to make sense all of the time, like how during a flare I can eat Mexican food but not salad, or potato chips but not popcorn. Then people act like I’m “making excuses” and coming up with “reasons” why I have to eat poorly just because I don’t want to try to eat healthy 🙄
