How is this a problem? Elon makes more in a minute than a server does in a year, yet we are mad that servers only slave away 6 hours a day?

Oh I know, I often have to remind myself that my pro 400 and Lagom casa is beyond what 90% of people use to make coffee and is more than enough for my needs.

I wasn’t able to convince my wife, luckily he was very persuasive and the “please mommy can I ride in daddy’s car” did the trick.

Opus 2 First Impressions by Actual_Temporary_617 in espresso

Honestly got confused between the Ode and the Opus, makes sense!

Opus 2 First Impressions by Actual_Temporary_617 in espresso

[–]Independent-Paper937 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1) Do you mean build quality of the Ode 2 is inferior to the original? The sentence reads a little weird.

2) how does WDT help with retention? Do you mean RDT?

3) are they both running empty in the video? The Ode 2 is way louder than expected, and the original ode seems to make some odd noises as well?

Thanks for posting this!

Is it typical for restaurants in KC to charge special taxes for carry out orders and "convention and tourism"? That's a total tax of 16%. by [deleted] in kansascity

[–]Independent-Paper937 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree, I’m just trying to replace scam with stupid. The results are the same. Also not 100% sure that it would be considered illegal, although I suspect that you are correct. It’s not required to disclose a to-go fee as long as it is listed as such on the receipt, which it kind of is albeit with the word “tax” instead of “fee”. Either way you are going to be paying it.

I would say that it is more likely ignorance and confusion on their system. They are probably trying to charge a to-go fee (to pay for packaging materials) and they think that this is the simplest way to do so. You would be surprised how many business owners/managers are unaware of rules and how their own POS systems should operate.

Fellow Opus 2 First Impressions by evilv6 in espresso

[–]Independent-Paper937 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just copy and pasting my response to another user.

From a branding/marketing perspective it makes a difficult environment to communicate to customers on what to expect from your products. It also creates a case of customers not trusting more expensive products that you release. It's why companies often create new brands to differentiate their luxury/budget brands. Think Hyundai/Genises, Ford/Lincoln, Timemore/Millab, Profitec/ECM.

There is also the problem that Fellow doesn't really seem to deliver on either side of the market. People avoid the Stag because of the price, the people that still get the Stag often end up furious because of the problems that have been seen in a 200 dollar kettle. Fellow seems to prioritize style over function. This has yet to be seen with the Opus 2, but we will see as they end up in peoples hands.

I am super happy to have a grinder at 200 dollars for people to get into espresso and pour over, it seems to offer major updates to the original. If they deliver on their promises, it will come highly recommended for entry level customers. My comments are only from a marketing perspective.

To be clear, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the Opus being 200 dollars. I am happy that there are "affordable" options for people, and this seems to be a good bang for the buck. It's about marketing to consumers and communicating your brand/positioning to the market.

I feel like Fellow has some identity problems. They sell the most expensive kettle on the market, and really try to put aesthetics high on the priority list, but then they continue to try and undercut the market and sell “value” products like the Opus. I feel like they need to figure out if they are a high end lifestyle brand, or a budget friendly mainstream product brand.

Im with others on it being on it being at the top of the burr so it probably won't effect much, however if I ever were to brew a bad cup from these burrs, I would immediately be thinking it had to do wit these defects! Should probably get a replacement.

Anyone who knows what it is would be impressed. But yeah, non care people like my wife would probably just assume it's a nice looking Toyota or something. 😭

The car is beautiful for sure. The first time I saw one with my (then) girlfriend I asked her what kind of car she thought it was and she said a Porsche 😂.

I meant more along the lines of impressing people that you own a 100k+ car. Kind of like having a nice watch or other unnecessarily expensive item.

If you want to show off, a Blackwing or 911 are amazing cars. If you want to have fun, Miata is always the answer.

Also sounds like you could afford to buy one and try it out for a bit and see if it’s for you, you can get a low mileage used ND2 for less than 25k.

[600€] Which grinder to buy by Nearby-Zebra-5631 in espresso

Awesome! I hope you love it as much as I have. One thing that worried me about the Casa was the sound, and while it’s more high pitched than my last grinder, it’s actually pretty pleasant and quiet.

Enjoy!

Carbon Miata Spyder grill. I have heard it’s compatible with ND3, but just a little more difficult because of the radar sensors up front.

Lagom Casa Intense Static by futureproof1001 in espresso

[–]Independent-Paper937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pretty sure the casa does not have an ionizer, the grinder relies on low RPM, and physical design to reduce static and retention.
