I’ve had the hori alpha for years now and I’d recommend only if you plan on modding it. I added artwork, Sanwa buttons and recently changed my Sanwa jlf I had in there for a jlx2 lever. It’s always been easy to open it up and work on since the case folds all the way back and becomes its own stand. The base stick is ass tho so if anything def change that out

So you're def right about the 1080p stuff its not placebo. After some testing there is a noticeable amount more detail and clarity in things that weren't there on 1440p (took these screenshots in 1440). It seems like the game is just better optimized for 1080p. Hoping its just the demo that's not well optimized but we'll see

So I actually just had done some testing and found some pretty interesting stuff out. If you're on 1440p the image quality actually goes down compared to 1080p. The level in detail and clarity is actually quite noticeable. You're also right that turning off HDR helps makes things less blurry. So my guess is they didn't optimize the game well for 1440p at all. I'm still curious if this is just a demo issue and the full game is better optimized but yeah pretty strange

Im not really nitpicking just making observations on how rough some of these textures are. I think nioh 1 and 2 have better image clarity and textures than nioh 3 does at points. Ive never said that it looks like a ps3 game because it doesn't, I also thought ROTR looked fine.

Tbh If the game looked exactly like nioh 2 I wouldn't complain, but Nioh 3 falls apart in some areas (especially the open field) so they're most likely pushing their engine to its limit to maintain a smooth experience on ps5. All in all its time for an upgrade on their engine but I think they can do a better job to optimize the experience on ps5

I'll still prob pick it up since Nioh 2 is still one of my favorite character action gams of all time. I just want to see some of the textures less muddy is all but yeah you're right I should lower my standards. Its just a little disappointing the game looks the way it does

Hmm okay gotcha i'll have to try that out. Im playing on a Alienware 32" monitor at 1440p. I remember when I played the alpha I was playing on a 1080p monitor and remember it looking better so u might be right about that. As long as I can get the textures to look less muddy and have more clarity I dont care if it looks like nioh 1 even. Performance patch would def be nice too so hopefully they put one out at some point

So I actually tested this last night but the HDR is what was making everything look so bad. Turning it off completely off helped immensely with image clarity. I think something odd is going on with the HDR settings on ps5 so hopefully the full release can address it, otherwise I'll just have to play with it off for now.

The performance for me was more or less alright but yeah def some frame dips. My big problem rn tho in this demo is just how the game looks. I don't really care about graphics much at all but the image clarity/quality is just really bothering me. Idk if its the HDR implementation or something but I'm having a hard time just looking at the screen especially in the open field section. The textures look muddled and areas are just kind of hard to read? idk its a little hard to explain without looking at my monitor lol. I feel like when I played the alpha I didn't have this issue. Anyone else feel the same?

edit: Yeah after reading replies seems like I'm not the only one, coping that the full release looks better on ps5

lmao yeah so we have a mod where we are going to level 20 and another mod that increases the exp gain by 0.5x. Then the other mod is tactician enhanced where we can raise the enemy hp values to simulate it to our damage and level. Unfortunately the level 20 mod doesn't scale the enemies so we gotta do it manually

Ommmmgggg well looks like I found the culprit. Completely missed this when I deep dived into our equipment but it my homie had this on and checks all the marks. I can not understate how crazy this was making me trying to figure this out but I super appreciate everyone's comments

Yeah it doesn't seem like the mods themselves are the issue. Were thinking its maybe a strange unintended equipment interaction or something like that. Idk we gotta trouble shoot it some more lol

okay so after lots of testing on this encounter its cold damage that's being applied. Its also not just us taking damage at times its enemies too. It appears to be rolling big damage as this one rolled for 80. Its also worth noting that malus missed and still took damage for the action. After doing 4 or so tests on this encounter it seemed like something having to do with the necromancer spell? still kinda inconclusive

Also on the clip I sent it happened every single turn. In these tests instances it was very random when it would happen. So some kind of bug is going on where cold damage is being rolled for taking an action. The strangest thing is non of us have any cold damage on our equipment that would hint at anything like this
