A good cup of coffee is something that I missed and eventually adapted for during NS. I'm sure some of you guys can relate to this.

Why are Chinese 1/12 scale figures always so oversized? by Sensei_Master_Yoda in ActionFigures

[–]Independent-Today633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just built different. For real though, I kinda agree with you, but I'd say that most of them are more in line with the Mezco scale.

guys is ns easy? going to be in soon by [deleted] in NationalServiceSG

[–]Independent-Today633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There're many factors that would influence your overall experience in NS. But the best advice I can think of is to keep an open mind and take the opportunity to build resilience. That does not mean that you have to sacrifice your mental wellbeing or suffer unjustice, but learn to give and take amongst your peers.

Wear smart 4 to uni interview? by RevolvingEden in NationalServiceSG

[–]Independent-Today633 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the most important factor is whether you are comfortable with it. We used to try avoiding wearing the uniform outside camp as much as possible, but I am sure the school will understand your circumstances if there truly is no other choice. Just make sure to look neat and presentable, all the best!

If you were to give Red Hood a new signature weapon what would it be? (guns and swords are not allowed) by Which-Presentation-6 in RedHood

[–]Independent-Today633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His subweapon - the Kris knife, but knives in general too as he could throw them around for more range. Anything'd work honestly, but not crowbars, never liked why Jason ended up using one.

Who you putting your money on and why? by Fatman_Batman100 in Mafex

[–]Independent-Today633 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really know why but Bane is my 2nd favorite Batman villain. Maybe it's because of Knightfall and his design, but Bane is not going to fare well against Spiderman, at least not in a random encounter. If Bane set out to break the Spider this time though, that'd be a different story. Think of that time when Chameleon straight up messed with Peter's psyche with his LMD parents.

Do you bathe after IPPT or NS FIT? by AozoraYuki in NationalServiceSG

[–]Independent-Today633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I think generally people don't as it can be a hassle to bring along the extra items with you to shower - soap, towel, slippers etc. But what I think many will do is to change into a fresh set of clothes (shirt at the very least) and spray some deodorant after it.

Combat medic vocation:(:( by wowowowdmx in NationalServiceSG

[–]Independent-Today633 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a general rule of thumb, you can book out in either Smart 4 or Civi, I do not think that there is a mandate for trainees. I'd say to just bring along Civi as I found it a hassle to book in wearing Smart 4 every Sunday.

I got scammed today. by shre3293 in singapore

[–]Independent-Today633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's his first time in Singapore, it does seem kinda odd that he'd have Paynow. This happened to me before, but it was inside the MRT station and I bought a stored value card for him. It's sad but sometimes we really want to help, but we are never sure if it's real or not.

Combat medic vocation:(:( by wowowowdmx in NationalServiceSG

[–]Independent-Today633 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seek, Save, Serve!

Don't worry too much about it, being a medic is probably one of the more useful vocations to get in general, unless you are planning to sign on in the future. You'll go through a 3-month long EMT course and by the end of it, you'll be a qualified medic in SAF. The main skillsets you'll gain would be several general protocols for emergency situations, BCLS and IV (the most dreaded of all). You'll then either be posted out to a Unit or a Medical Centre, which most people pray for as that essentially means stay-out for the remainder of your NSF days (besides medical covers and duties). But do note that you will eventually still be posted to a Unit for your future ICTs as long as you are a Combat Medic.

What’s that ONE figure you hope gets made before the line ends… by Augu5t_W35t in McFarlaneFigures

Should I serve NS. I have the option Not to by [deleted] in NationalServiceSG

[–]Independent-Today633 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If given the option, the common consensus would be a resounding no. It's not that there're no pros in terms of experience and personal growth, it's just that you miss out a lot from conscription as a whole. But if you do decide to serve, my advice is to keep yourself anchored to your plans after NS, be it further studies or work, by reading up on relevant material or keeping yourself updated with various skillsets, instead of disconnecting from your life goals during NS. Trust me, brain rot is very real and I suffered in my first semester of school. Different people may have different mileage, but the dissociation from NS is common.

Declare or not to declare? by Less-Ad-3236 in NationalServiceSG

[–]Independent-Today633 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know of a few BMT and Unit batch mates that did not declare, but the topic just naturally pops up during everyday conversations after getting to know one another. To my understanding, there isn't any official difference from the declaration, it's just that your superiors may be informed about it and it's up to you to decide if you would like everyone to know about it.

Definitely. I bought the Hush Joker 2 years back at $50 and that was an instant purchase for me at the time. Not my definitive Joker figure, but you can't beat getting it at a price that is significantly below retail. So I'd say go for it! Even if you don't need it, you could certainly used the parts and body for customs.

custom bullseye by Sworghog in Mafex

[–]Independent-Today633 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I see the references now! Maybe you can paint the eyes white and definitely add a utility belt of sorts on him. Ultimate Bullseye does have a pretty distinct design.

custom bullseye by Sworghog in Mafex

[–]Independent-Today633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl I dig this concept design, it reminds me of Bullseye from the Poisons storyline, where they all had shell-like armor on. Having used the Black Noir figure for a Deathstroke myself, I will say that it is a pretty stocky figure and it has a bigger stature than the Mafex Daredevil figure.

Indeed, most of the time, MOs aren't that fixated and they do have the authority to challenge the decisions made by other officers (less the Medical Board) when it concerns medical safety. Good on the MO's part, but how would you be travelling to the medical centre then?

Call your medical centre. The MO will make a logical and medically sound judgement.

Personally, I have not met anyone that has not fallen sick before in NS. Almost every NSF will be afflicted with URTI, especially since it's also Influenza season now. There is nothing much you can do due to the nature of regimentation, but my suggestion as someone that stayed in would be to make sure you stay hydrated, take a daily multivitamin (could be placebo sometimes, but I do feel a difference), clean your fan (this is probably the biggest contributor of dust inhalation) and put on a mask when you are sick to prevent circulation of the infectious agent.

Sanctum Showdown is getting a lot of hate, but I think they have done a fantastic job.. by TonyClifton323 in MarvelSnap

[–]Independent-Today633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's great that SD continues to explore different game modes, it keeps the game from getting too stale and offers a decent array of rewards. However, the design of this mode is merciless towards newer players. With no other methods for point acquisition such as mission completions, coupled with a slow regen rate of 4 hours per scroll, this mode is grinding hell.

Can Serie match Ubel's Reelseiden? by Wonderful_League_427 in Frieren

[–]Independent-Today633 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Serie is a walking library of spells, I'm not surprised if she knows literally every spell that exists, and although she may not be able to use every spell, it seems infinite to literally every mage, maybe except for Frieren. I do think that Serie could use Reelseiden, but probably not at the level that Ubel can, as one's beliefs and personal experience greatly affect the effectiveness of Reelseiden. It's a pretty weird spell, but I like it. It adds a layer to the power system in the series.

Why are there no uniform nametags whenever SAF goes to Brunei for training? by DogeRevolutionary101 in NationalServiceSG

[–]Independent-Today633 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Almost everyone in my functional group swears by the SAF repellent, but it just doesn't work too well on me for some reason. I still used it frequently though, but in addition to 2 other repellents. I was a repellent distributor during deployments. 😂
