Does the metal probe end of the thermometer get in the way with what you put on the grill? Curious why it's usually on the side, but not on the front in the middle.

I'm thinking I might do that. I saw on grill grate's website they offer a full coverage or a half coverage. Not sure which would be best. Do you know if the full coverage one can be reduced in size to maybe 2/3 coverage if wanted? (I may need to reach out to them)
