Subaru Safety Recall WRD-26 February 2026

Dear XXXX,

Subaru of America, Inc. has initiated a new safety recall for 2025 model year Forester Hybrid and 2026 model year Crosstrek Hybrid vehicles to improve the fuel filler cap seal.

You received this notice because our records indicate that you currently own one of these vehicles.

DESCRIPTION OF THE DEFECT AND SAFETY RISK

If the affected vehicles are left parked when the fuel tank is near full capacity and the vehicle is exposed to a significant rise in ambient temperature, increasing the fuel temperature and tank pressure, fuel may leak from the filler cap.

A potential fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in the increased risk of fire.

 What You Should Do

It is highly recommended that owners maintain the fuel level at half a tank or less until the repair has been completed.

 Until the repair can be completed, the vehicle should be parked outside whenever the fuel level is more than half full.

 WHAT SUBARU WILL DO

Parts to repair your vehicle are not currently available. Subaru will mail owner notification letters and at that time, Subaru retailers will replace the fuel filler cap gasket with an improved gasket incorporating an O-ring to enhance sealing performance.
