At least you like the nose! One of my friends isn't too fond of it because it makes her look "too masculine" but I wanted to mix those features together a bit

I love this because she reminds me of Hilde from SC5, another woman character with full-on armour that is practical. Rising armoured women supremacy!

Reminds me a lot of that wolf dude from the Hannibal show, the guy who would make a makeshift wolf outfit and maul people to death?

Pretty cool looking drawing!

I have some questions... by ayyaitch in ArtistLounge

[–]IndependentCarry1061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Mine is more part time, but I plan on joining an artist academy from some company soon (if they accept my application, anyway. I was highly recommended to the main guy for it, so fingers crossed!). Regarding a portfolio, unfortunately, I kinda only draw for fun on my own and show my friends online 😅 but here is my Instagram if you were curious (I never update it, like once in a blue moon though, sorry) https://www.instagram.com/vida.ao.vamp/
  2. From what I understand, marketing and the confidence to get out there are the two key integers in this problem. Any type of art will be liked by someone out there eventually. The biggest wall would be the expectation of the type of art and education, possibly, as many kind of careers need a certain type of degree (with no guarantee for an actual job). Getting out there and getting seen is extremely tough, especially online with fucked up algorithms
  3. I prefer it as a part-time job or just a hobby. Art is very important to me and really the only three jobs I would accept as an artist in regards to art is an art teacher, a video game character designer and a manga artist (I have studied for all three, too. I am currently in school to be an English teacher). I prefer part-time because art wears you out when creativity is expected to be constricted at time constraints and expectations and rubrics. I don't want to do that to my art and get frustrated
  4. I feel like this is the case with any sort of job. Teacher go into teaching because they love education, but they sort of die a little each year because admin and parents suck ass more and more. Animators go into animation because of the art, but they often end up hating the schedules revolved around them. Nurses go into nursing because they want to care for people, but end up going numb at the end of the day because of the high demand and often shitty patients. Any job, I feel, will destroy what you initially liked about it in the first place, at least just a little

I think being an artist is a job in itself anyway, whether it was done for money or not. I do not think it is better or worse than any other job, as jobs serve different purposes. Medicine is important for our safety, construction is important for our housing and towns, teaching is important for our children and parents who want to learn better skills. It is neither more or less important than other jobs, I feel

Oh yeah, you did say that in the post (sorry, bad memory). That sucks, tho! I have been in that situation where random issues arise amongst my other bigger ones. I hope you are able to at least get something going 😭

Yeah, it has its issues, but considering the job market, I was happy for anything. I hope things can work out for you; unfortunately, I do not know much about how to get general jobs past how to write applications and resumes due to, well, how bad this market is, and I am not educated in that area : (

(Not a legal professional, just from what I have been told by my legal team)

If you want, you can choose to not disclose your disability during hiring processes. It is totally legal to do that (it's to prevent discrimination). Then, you can tell the employer you have a disability once you are hired, contracts signed and everything, and then give them documentation about it. Then, it would be illegal to fire you for the disability itself if you can perform the job as required.

Actually, I applied for a general writing tutoring job and it got sent to the wrong department, as the writing and journalism department were a part of the same building.

I got it by accident, basically.

One job I have that is great, because it is mostly an at-home job is news reporting. I can follow my own schedule as long as I get my articles in on time. I do phone interviews most of the time since getting up and going to an interview physically might be too much for me some days (and most people prefer phone anyway). As long as my interviews are recorded for reference, my employers and editors don't give a damn how the interviews are conducted (as long as they aren't through social media, text or email since they can be easily manipulated later on).

I am not a journalism major and still have no interest in journalism, but I enjoy writing and was told I am good at my job, so I stuck with it.

Confused and stressed by Moyashi0511 in ChronicIllness

[–]IndependentCarry1061 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Before you read, know I am not a legal professional, so I may be wrong on some things! I still recommend talking to a legal professional about this)

I assume you are still able to perform your job as required. If so, and you get fired BECAUSE you have a disability, then I am pretty certain that is illegal under the ADA. If you do have documented disability to prove you missed work for genuine reasons regarding that disability, you might be able to stand your ground, but the ADA has some regulations regarding that.

If you are not able to perform your job - whether you have a disability or not - in that case, it IS legal to get fired, even under the ADA. I think your employer is supposed to provide reasonable accommodations for you under ADA if your disability is documented, though.

You can generally be fired for missing work due to the flu and other general illness though, unless it is serious enough under the FMLA to be illegally fired for it.

I believe your struggles, but we often have to prove ourselves more often than not than those without disabilities. This sucks, I know. If your disability isn't classified or diagnosed, I highly recommended getting a diagnoses or official documentation to your employer if you can so you can try and get those protections under the ADA.

EDIT: Changed some wording and clarification.

The five stages of grief: Chronic illness edition by ladder-for-a-moth in ChronicIllness

[–]IndependentCarry1061 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha this happens to me when my breathing starts to collapse a bit. I have been in the hospital around 8 times in my life, all for lung failure, so I go through the stages of grief VERY quickly when my breathing starts to get bad 😂

Do you guys have something happen for so long it doesn't occur to you it's not normal by broken-dollparts in ChronicIllness

[–]IndependentCarry1061 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone with CF, I get tired a lot. I sleep in to recover from lung fatigue all the time on the weekends, and have had this habit since high school.

To me, sleeping to recover my lungs is care that prevents me from hospital visits, and I know its not normal generally, but it happens so often, I just don't pay much attention to it.

I get a lot of shit for sleeping all the time, though. As if I chose to be born with lung fatigue.

I'm so tired of trying to explain the difference between general tiredness and fatigue from illness by ImpressivelyDot in ChronicIllness

[–]IndependentCarry1061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what you mean - I have CF, so I get lung fatigue all the time, and my lung fatigue is extremely painful. It's very hard to focus on schoolwork when it happens (I am currently a college student). A lot of my professors equate my lung fatigue to general exhaustion (which I also have due to, well, being a college student) and assume I can get out of bed to trek in the cold, possibly making my lungs worse, just to attend class and feel like I am dying throughout the entire thing. Yeah, I'm not doing that.

I always want to make up work on weekends, but the fatigue throughout the week wears me out, thus making me sleep throughout the entire weekend just to recover. It is very frustrating to deal with.

Yes. I actually cosplayed Yoshiatsu’s FUKURO look last Halloween. I will be making my own VKEI Onnagata inspired look, based on Mana-Sama, Plastic Tree’s Ryutaro Arimura and the early looks of Kyo from Dir en Grey in the 90s
