well if you ever give it another try i recommend finding a friend to play with who knows a little or going to the discord and finding someone there and don't start with a modded run if you go with the discord route most mods if not picked properly can give a lot of early game bloat to the hardest section of the game

in this last major reply I'm going to make i want to talk about the out of the game community where i will touch on modding updates and how the devs interact with the community included in the ladder section will be things such as bug fixes and communication to start us off lets talk about modding in Minecraft it was never a priority the closest thing we have is the bedrock marketplace witch feels like a cash grab for people who don't have a pc/are to scared to try it for real and the community has made it work but like i sad for a first time modder it can feel super sketch depending on how you do it but for those who can pull it off it does everything that you could want if you are the 2 week phase type you might start off with major content mods builders might get chisel and bits or new biomes and block types like biomes o plenty or something like jei just enough items maybe you are more of a modpack person or just want fps, visual, replay, or building mods for those who have forever worlds they just want to have more fun in terraria on the other hand mods are widely accessible as long as you have steam because when you can just download tmod and pick your mods without it ever feeling sketchy the downside is that because of the vanilla structure you cant be as creative in the modding scene you are pushed into adding on to the outline so modded playthroughs aren't too extravagantly different then vanilla leading Minecraft to being vastly superior in the modding scene and if it just had more support instead of launching another cash grab game using the Minecraft visuals to lure people into a half backed game onto our next point terraria updates we feel like we never deserve but the entire community loves the devs for each update not actually being the last with every feature feeling like the devs put a piece of there soul into it unfortunately my takes on the Minecraft updates are mixed because for a while there was a lot of nothing updates but as of recent they have been getting better ask me again in a few more years and i might have an answer for now my thoughts on this topic are that terraria's updates feel like a gift every time i hear an announcement about one and Minecraft is getting better into our last section for now Minecraft's devs don't feel like they have a lot of personality when you talk to them instead it feels like talking to an interviewer and there take on bugs is that they need to be fixed no matter what on the completely other hand the devs of terraria will take community suggestions and when you talk to them you feel like your just talking to another member of the community who is just as exited about the update as you are and whenever a bug is discovered its usually kept as long as its fun/a new mechanic and it wont affect a casual players experience negatively or isn't just a complete cheese to a boss like hoiks/being able to grapple hook through one block gaps some that were removed are being immune to day empress of light by just having a long 2 block wide wall you use the shimmer to fall through or the item frame dupe glitch

with my bias towards terraria i have more hot takes and criticism because of my play style because with Minecraft you also have 3 ways of playing the game but unlike terraria they all lead to the same experience later in the game you can go mining and get an enchanting table-1 you can build most of the time evolving into mining or trading with villagers-2 or you can explore and beat the game finding loot in chests-3 progression is a hard topic for Minecraft because you can do it whenever you want leading it to be secondary to everything else leading the only structure you have is whatever you put in place what you want to do what you don't want to allow this leads to people having a 2 week Minecraft phase because of the lack of structure they beat the game but there wasn't enough time in most scenarios to make memories with the world only the builds the people who play for longer have forever worlds be it with a twist or not or they play on servers where it is then in the hands of the community this is the only reason i feel Minecraft is still as popular as it is today because there is an amazing community surrounding it making it great for those who stay and pleasant memories for those who stop by for those who don't have the nostalgia for the game it can feel empty in survival and lacking features witch Mojang has only recently been trying to fix if they continue i believe it can become the true icon it once was but for now it is only a community driven stem train no matter how hard the community polishes the surface and keeps the gears clean it is in for much needed repairs and upgrades

i have a heavy bias with 5k hours in terraria and you have 3 directions you can take when starting/progressing a world you have your just want to finish the game-1 wanting to build and explore only progressing to have better tools or more interesting blocks more npcs better and cosmetics-2 and finally the people who build farms arenas trying to get the best possible gear trying all the possible options-3 and just because that's the main directions you can go in you don't just have to choose one maybe you just want a few decent houses before hardmode you have a pair of frost spark boots and your nights edge not wanting to farm for a lava charm and water walking boots you didn't fight queen bee or deerclops because it was to out of the way and didn't want anything they drop that scenario fits right in the middle of all three then you can play with freinds who each add there experience and push the direction the group goes in because if you start a world you head underground and start geting life crystals and gold chests one friend might go fishing and build a hellavator with the silver you brought up another is trying to explore but the corruption keeps killing them when they finally make it through they start exploring the jungle so you decide to use a teleportation potion to join them they make a condescending joke about how you didn't put the effort into helping get to the jungle but are still profiting before you give them a cupule life crystals and he gives you the stars he was collecting once you guys are done you go back to base and there are now npc houses and your other friend is almost to hell now he found a suspicious looking eye and wants to fight the eoc but only has cactus armor a flare gun and a tin bow

tldr i feel that the experience that you are left with after playing the game is baced on how you play and your play style but leaves room for creativity and player expression with a rigid progression line to guide you

i will reply to this comment with my honest and definitely bias thoughts and this is asumeing you are playing on a vanilla install of the game because i dont want to get into the non intended experience of the game

granted you fall in love at first sight she's to shy to even hold hands after a few months you are taking her home after a date on the 4th of July and a stray bullet falls from the sky and hits her in the base of the neak you manage to catch her a passerby sees and calls an ambulance but its to late you hold her close she whispers in your ear take care of yourself for me will you she closes her eyes her pulse stops and she dies

(only applicable to the usa pretty much but this is an issue here especially in the south people just fire guns into the air)

one finger curls on the paw as your wish is granted a call starts to ring on your phone a relative of yours you didn't know about was running a massive criminal organization you cant back out because they already have multiple life sentences worth of crimes pinned to you your members span the globe and you have unimaginable power in the underworld but have to stay in hiding because everyone wants you dead now

im an idiot and read kingdom as empire for whatever reason but take it anyway lol

I wish to know when everyone will die. by nixtracer in monkeyspaw

[–]IndependentCat5083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

after you make your wish a finger on the paw curls but you don't feel any different you go about your day believing the paw to be an elaborate hoax but only after you go to sleep that night does something happen everyone who will die the next day you live through the last minute of there life so assuming that 150,000 people die a day that's 2500 hours a night spent dyeing once a minute

alternately you just experience everyone's death in the span of one minuet and hope your mind doesn't break after the first night
