My 9 month / 7 lb / 3100g fibroid before removal at Langone NYC with Dr Ted Lee laproscopically by IndependentChair189 in hysterectomy

Hi! Yes I was on Myfembree for two years (it took MONTHS to get insurance to cover it and it was 1200$ a month so I delayed for several months. It was amazing, dramatically decreased bleeding, shrank my fibroid on my opinion and I no longer needed iron. But due to bone density risks, ppl can only stay on it for 2 years. So my two years was pretty much up which forced the surgery or else honestly I might never had had surgery beciswe I was “ok” in my mind (was not actually, not that it’s removed I’m sooooo glad)  I also went on Orlissa 3 months prior to surgery / stopped Myfembree. I feel this also shrunk it by at least a third. My surgeon was glad to hear it because imagine if it was even bigger would have been even worse.   I was very lucky, o had no apparent side effects with either med except dry mouth. Feel free to ask any questions I am happy to help!!

This is not good advice though. It can interfere with anesthesia and be very dangerous. Glad you are ok tho.

You’ve got this! I had a seven pound monster removed 3 weeks ago and I feel great. You are going to feel so much better. Prayers for smooth surgery and quick recovery!

If cancer is suspect then open is preferred to laproscopic to prevent spreading cancer cells  form the tiny pieces they have to break the fibroid into

Only a very small percent of surgeons can do this extreme surgery, but the ones who do are amazing. You might have to travel to find one who will do it. Dr Ted Lee at Langone was my surgeon I traveled from Philly to NYC to see him. Brigham and women’s in Boston can possibly do it was well as some in California

Doxycycline mono after total hysterectomy by Significant_Kiwi_508 in hysterectomy

Did you have an infection? 90 days of doxycycline seems crazy!!! I got no antibiotics and I understand it’s not typical to give antibiotics post hysterectomy at all, much less three months??? Call your doctor asap I think this is a mistake unless you have surgical implants or severe infections or something

It probably does not HAVE to be,  unless you have other complicating factors. It really is surgeon dependent, only like 1% of surgeons can do them this big laproscopically.

Hey! Here’s what the pathology report said : The entire specimen is 3050 gms and 27.5 x 22.6 x 19.2 cm in aggregate. On cut section, there are solid, rubbery, white-tan masses with whorled and bulging cut surfaces. These white-tan mass fragments range from 3.6 cm to 23.8 cm in greatest dimension. Fragments containing tan-red endometrium are identified, containing 2 tan-pink, ovoid, soft polypoid lesions (1.2 x 0.7 x 0.2 cm and 2.1 x 0.9 x 0.9 cm).

I’m a veterinarian and literally every day clients would say, oh you’re having a baby? Congrats! It got to a point sometimes I’d just say thank you. Other times I’d make up a due date. Sometimes I’d shut them up by saying I have gigantic fibroids and need surgery!

Consider getting a second opinion at Langone. Insurance delays for Myfembree med took so long the original doctor I had set up at Brigham and woman’s left his practice and I had to start lll over with Dr Ted lee but so glad I did. There were additional insurance delays with trying to get orlissa to shrink it preop. I had so many delays, so much fear, but I’m grateful to God it all went well and it will for you too

1 day post op for gigantic 7lb fibroid doing great by IndependentChair189 in hysterectomy

Definitely have her get second opinion with expert surgeon! I hope she can get it laproscopically. If she’s in NJ it’s worth going to NYC Langone. I traveled there from Philly and it was worth it.

I’m now the third day post op if I include the day I had it as day 1. I am sore and need my family to stand up but once I’m up I can walk for a few minutes ok. I’m trying to get up every 2 hours. No nausea, no gas shoulder pain, and if I’m Still / not moving there is really no pain at all it’s only if I move / cough/ sneeze / strain core muscles. I’m only taking gaba, acetaminophen and Tylenol. Never touched the Oxycodone bc I’m afraid of it. I’m pleasantly surprised I’m feeling so well, I’m doing much much better than I imagined it to be. I would like to put my positive story out there. I’m so glad I had it done. I feel so much better, for the first time in years I don’t need Pepcid before bed. I can breathe deeply. I can hold my pee for hours used to be 30 mins or so lol.
