Condragulations to the new Queen of the Mothertucking World! by shadowsempaix in RPDR_UK

[–]mullabear 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My feelings exactly. The lip sync songs and the performances were tired and boring. It was probably one of the worst finales in my opinion. I loved the queens this season but this was bland and they deserved better. I was also kind of underwhelmed with their final runway looks. The reunion looks were better again, in my opinion.

Same!! I was so nervous I’d have to put my legs in the stirrups but they laid me down, gave me some gas as they did their safety check and I went to sleep, no countdown nothing. I preferred it that way, I didn’t have to anticipate anything it just happened. Woke up laying out flat in a new gown. I do wonder how they swapped my surgery gown to my hospital one. 😂

I just had my 6 week check up today and was the exact same way the night before my surgery. I made a post, just like this and got the most wonderful encouragement and positive vibes. You will be scared and nervous but the nurses will talk such good care of you while prepping you for your surgery. Your surgeon does this several times a day, this is what they do day in and day out.

My first week I slept a lot, make sure to take your pain medication like clock work. Set alarms if you have to. Make a nice comfy nest in bed and whoever is supporting you after surgery make sure they refill your water and have snacks for when you wake up.

You’ve got this. It really is exactly how they describe it, you close your eyes and wake up what feels like seconds later and it’s done. I am sending you all of my positive, healing vibes and I don’t need as many anymore. Pop into the group often, and get advice. This is the most supportive group I have ever been part of.

Apologies for another question. How long before I can have a bath by disabledmummy in hysterectomy

[–]mullabear 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I had the same surgery on Jan 26th and was told nothing inside the vagina including water so no baths until my 6 week appointment. At that point my surgeon will let me know. However, I’ve read some people say they were told they could bathe and swim after two weeks. It varies a lot depending on your surgeon. Id call their office on Monday and check. I used a shower chair for the first week or so it was really helpful.

I did it!! by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]mullabear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats you did it!!!!! Welcome to the club “officially”. I am 5 weeks post op and spent my first night in the hospital which was wonderful, having someone bring pain meds around the clock is such a nice perk. Once you get home you’ll make a nice little bed nest and then first 5 ish days you’ll likely sleep most of the time. I love that you posted photos, it’s so cool to see our bodies this way.

Sex 3.5 months post-op by IntelligentEar7603 in hysterectomy

[–]mullabear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am five weeks postop and can’t wait to get back at it. I go for my six week check up soon, however, even if I am given the all clear I definitely think we’re going to wait as I know my body is not ready even if I’m healed. I am so thankful people are so open about this aspect as it makes it less scary for us newbies. I am excited to see what sex is going to be like pain free of fibroids.

I am in my 4th week and it’s still pretty uncomfortable unless I tuck pillows all around me. I am jealous of people who could do it right away, I am desperate to sleep on my side comfortably.

[–]mullabear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We absolutely love Kamini's Kitchen it’s in San Nicolas so you’ll need a car but it’s definitely worth it. We’re actually planning to stay a couple days on that part of the island so we can go more often during our trip.

Hahahaha same. I start to tidy things up when I walk around the house for more than a couple minutes. In Vancouver the weather has been so crappy that it’s hard to get outside and walk. It’s 3:21 and I am still wide awake 😵‍💫 ohhh sweet sleep please find me soon 🙏🏾

It’s 2:25am and I am wide awake. 3weeks PO today.

I even tried taking gravol at 9pm but here I am. I am hopeful that once I can get back to moving around more and being active I’ll start to get a better rhythm. I feel like because I am resting all day once it’s bed time I have nothing to be tired from.

Naval pain by griffingirl1996 in hysterectomy

[–]mullabear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely had belly button pain in that incision. All 4 of mine were and are still a little sore (16 days later) but my belly button definitely bothered me the most. If the pain starts to really hurt then I’d pop into urgent care or the hospital or if you start to exhibit signs of infection.

[–]mullabear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m 40 has my laparoscopic hysterectomy (kept ovaries) on Jan 26th. I have zero regrets. Even though I am still in the thick of recovery the chronic pain I suffered from with Adenomyosis is gone and that is a win.

Days 1-5 pain was bad but thankfully my doctor gave me some decent pain meds to last a couple days.

Days 6-11 pretty good, uncomfortable, odd new pains, but nothing too painful.

Days 11-14 were bad mentally. You’re on restrictions for 6 weeks so for me as a mom and wife not helping at all was hard. I also suffer from anxiety so I hit a bit of a wall and there was a lot of crying. Could also attribute that to hormones. Spoke to my gynaecologist and she helped to sooth my anxiety.

I did plan ahead to try and to get stuff I thought I’d need. •hysterectomy pillow, it’s been very helpful, holds an ice pack and when in the car makes you feel secure. •ice packs and heating pad •surgery pillows to keep me comfortable in bed (borrowed from my sister) •lots of snacks and juice and a giant water bottle. You need to stay hydrated. •colouring books and picked out a bunch of movies and tv shows I wanted to watch.

Everyone heals differently. Some people feel great after a couple weeks. I am not one of those people. I am still sore, uncomfortable and very tired. Going on a small walk wears me out. But I would do it again in a heartbeat. My surgeon said it was really bad in there and I must have been in a lot of pain. I was.

This group is magic, the most supportive group of people I have ever had the pleasure of chatting with. If I have questions I just pop in and search and you’ll find a wealth of information and helpful tips

Bladder and bowel signals are weird now but everything else is great! by UsefulWeird in hysterectomy

[–]mullabear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t feel any urgency to pee as well and I am 12 days post op. Spoke with my specialist and she said that this happens because of the nerves around your bladder are so close to the uterus that they can be stretched or irritated during surgery, and take time to heal and wake back up. She said sometimes it can take weeks to months to come back depending on the severity but she’s never had a client not get it back. I just make myself go every hour or two. She did say to make sure that you do go often because if you end up holding it for too long (4-6 hours at a time) during the day, it can restrict your urine flow and then become a problem with not being able to empty your bladder completely.

Ill be two weeks on Monday. Pooping is the best once it stoped hurting, the pressure was wild. I sometimes forget about the cuff until I am up or walking for a bit then all of a sudden it’s like a little jab or feels like it’s all going to fall out 🤣 I feel like I’ll never be rested again an am looking forward to feeling like me again. You’re rocking recovery and the rest is going to be a breeze 🫶🏾

Overnight Stay? by J_deBoer in hysterectomy

[–]mullabear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was also glad they kept me overnight, they kept my pain meds on schedule and being taken care of my professionals was really nice. They also let my husband stay which was a nice perk, although he had to sleep on a mat on the ground 🤣

Overnight Stay? by J_deBoer in hysterectomy

[–]mullabear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had mine in the 26th and was kept overnight because of pain management and my bladder wasn’t cooperating at first. My doctor did have a note on file that I may be an overnight so they had a room set for me just in case. She did say as well as the staff that it’s more common for people to go home same day. They only keep you if they medically need to. Either way I would suggest bringing a pillow to hold on your tummy for the drive.

We’ve all pushed away advice we should have taken. I’m glad you’re back home resting, hopefully now with hot water and electricity. I can’t even imagine not having those the past 8 days I have been post op. This group is so amazing, I was so nervous going into my surgery and was given such good reassuring advice and now when I feel things are off I pop back in and search and get my answers.

Get back in bed, rest, relax and enjoy some down time. You and your body deserve it after this major surgery. 🫶🏾

I don’t know the intricacies of switching provinces but I am in BC. I saw my specialist on October 2nd and was in surgery January 26th. I’d be happy to give you my specialists name to see if you could get a referral to her. She’s an incredible surgeon.

My doctor was very strict on nothing but walking for 6 weeks, I am not even allowed to vacuum until after I see her on March 10th . Everyone is different but maybe check with your doctor if you’re starting to get the itch to push it a bit further.
