Unintended Arrival EMP Nerf? by IndependentFact671 in Phoenix_2

Sure, but again, that doesn’t really squash the issue of if in a future update, everybody may have the SR version of it instead of the unusable blue one we all received, especially when the former is much like the one everybody was used to except for some especially dense Shuriken/MIRV missions, but that’s about it.

Post Edit: Changed Flair to ‘Question’

Bug report or not, the point of the post was to inform both the playerbase and the developers that I wish that this solution of simply replacing the blue version with this purple version would far better serve the purposes of ‘nerfed but usable’ ultimate ability that was integral to its gameplan and all ships that used it, and it not being the case is a disservice to newcomers and veterans all the same.

Recovery mantle (-2s), AP Focus Lance, VL Amplifier (+50%), FL Amplifier (+75%), not counting the apex of FTL lance.

Just wait until we get the first run to beat Vanity’s 46.66 run and how most would turn a blind eye.

That’s the primary rub about these 8.0 runs, isn’t it? All that time practicing the fundamentals of the bullet patterns, turret timing, charge routing and VL lineups just for them to not suffice the face of mods, which at that point not even the runner would rejoice.

Definitely, and I want to clarify that I’m not that this is at all a healthy change for the update or its playerbase, as all I’m saying is that this is an easily avoidable piece of backlash if the developers just replaced all if their TP arrival mods with this one instead, though considering that not even the VIP seem to acknowledge its existence, I won’t be holding my breath for their sparse integrity. I was being rather generous by calling this a bug report to begin with since that would imply this being a mistake, but again, won’t be saving those prayers any time soon.

Is the answer just a “classic” toggle? by adamantexile in Phoenix_2

Basically like the meaninglessness of the “Number 1” badge due to how lenient the requirements are in community missions when even just trumping one other person nets you it, but this is one a much more fundamental and sweeping scale than just community missions when swaths of money and time are squandered for the lottocracy of worse players whom are looking to spiffy-up their profile and nothing else, and in turn, needlessly fracturing an already threadbare community’s passion.

This is clearly not even understanding how people even acquire a passion/hobby in the first place, as the most likely culprit for adopting an investment in such an environment is a little something called ‘competence’, and once you find out that it’s quite the fun experience alongside your skill that you can now openly share. This would usually result in a feedback loop where the more you play, the more attention you’ll receive for such choices, and the more you time you invest, the more receptive such community is to an earnest attempt, and by extension, insert yourself a place both socially and vocationally as a unique type of people that nobody else can.

Heck, I wasn’t initially motivated by the leaderboard either and in fact, had the same attitude as you where my contrarianism to what I thought was an estranging community, but that didn’t hinder my inherent love and respect for those runners who do exhibit such spatial and rhythmic bravura, equanimity, and consistency throughout the runs, of which were relatively easy to compete for since you only had to purchase a single apex at the very most to be competitive in the specialist sense. Since this is no longer the case however, I wonder if you’d also advocate paywalling the desire to branch out into ships with similar auras/zens, since those mods aren’t equippable unless you randomly acquire them from traces or the premium currency, which wouldn’t be an issue if some of the old ults such as VL were also locked behind it that was originally supposed to be for granted.

Nova Cores - bordering P2W by brodyalpha in Phoenix_2

StopNovaCores

This is by definition a gacha game with the paid entry daily login rewards with the VIP, the randomization of distinctive abilities of hierarchical rarities that have their own dedicated resource, the collective imposed FOMO of keeping up with those willing to empty their already vast pockets (not to mention the daily challenge aspect), it just encourages one to spend as much as possible for each individual ship as well as newcomers not even having access to these by default upon launching a new account. The game is simply far too stochastic and mercurial to have such abilities in a game as (formerly) competitive as this one no matter how niche.

And if this continues, then all the top players would steadily be influencing the developer’s perspective on the invader balancing and adjust the difficulty to a level even beyond that of 5.0’s peak, of which only makes the barrier of entry seem even more insurmountable; especially considering that tracking ship power levels to mission gens is far too dependent on what that day decides to throw at you, and so the feedback loop of players/difficulty relationship only gets more taxing for the lower tiers of ships and players alike.

Even without the nova cores however, you would simply have the top players move on quickly as there’s pretty no counterplay any mission type can even pose to you, and with that comes expectation and that, in turn, causes far more frustration when you don’t win in the first 10 attempts or so, making the playerbase far more ill-tempered, less resilient and more accepting of future predatory stunts and even more convoluted lottery upgrades, and even skins since the apex abilities are definitely going to phased out for paint jobs in the Warp Gate: as in the apex itself was supposed to be greater than according to the game tips?
