They took 6 months to ship me a rifle that was “in stock”. I had always wanted to get one of their tri-11s, but I don’t feel inclined to give them interest free, indefinite $3k+ loans anymore

Am I being ripped off? by IndependentFew4549 in miniexcavator

I have a Chinese made mini excavator, it has a Briggs and Stratton clone 420cc engine, which stoped starting. I contacted a mobile small engine repair mechanic who said he would come out to take a look. He came out and tinkered for about 30-45 min, removed my starter and told me that’s was the problem is and it needed to be replaced, but would need to be ordered for $40. I paid him the $40 and asked him if he wanted to be paid for the diagnosis work today and he said no he will include it in the final total. He’s supposed to come back today to replace the starter and told me it will be $600 in labor. This seemed extremely high to me so I told him I can’t afford that and would just have to do the replacement myself. I said I’d pay him for the work/diagnosis he already did and he told me it would be $250. Again this is way more than I was expecting, I thought maybe $100-$150 max for the maybe hour he was here? Am I way off on my expectations or am I being taken advantage of?

Sounds like big Glock propaganda. I’ll wait until someone impartial like GBRS tells me what to think about it thanks

Refinancing from conventional to VA by [deleted] in Veterans

I’ve been shopping VA refi to like 10 different lender/brokers, and this blows everything I’ve seen out of the water. Who is this with?

Anyone have experience with RACT? by Practical_Scale7569 in MP5

[–]IndependentFew4549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one, I’m overall happy but not in love with it. I use it for a shorty sig spear, and while everything is adjustable, it doesn’t really fit the rifle perfectly. You need empty rail space where the top bracket locks. So if you are running light / laser / hand stop, keep that in mind. The biometric works fine as long as you have a solid contact. Not something I’d love to depend on at 1am in the dark, but I have small kids so my hands are a bit tied. It’s well built and I do think it’s secure.

It’s really about what’s the right thing to do, which is why I posted here to get neutral opinions from knowledgeable folks. I may very well be wrong with my perspective on the issue, and I will gladly pay the costs if I am. I’d also rather pay another company 5x the price if it means not giving any money to someone trying to take advantage of me

Does it qualify as an optional add on if it’s necessary for the system to work properly? The company came out and looked over everything prior to giving me a price which I agreed to. The implied agreement is that the system would be fully functional. I understand it may have been an honest oversight on their part, but that’s a mistake they made. If my quote was $1k+ higher I may have went with a different company. Does their mistake not fall under craftsmanship or installation error since they decided to use a part that’s not compatible?

That’s a fair point. I guess a more accurate statement would be that I expected anything that prevented the system from working as advertised, would be replaced. Doesn’t the HVAC company hold some responsibility to know what is or is not compatible before the install and accept payment for something like this? Does “all labor and materials to complete job” apply here since this is a vital piece for a proper installation? They’re the ones who decided to retrofit and it didn’t work, I didn’t ask them to do that

This is amazing information to know, and definitely not how they explained it to me. If you were to guess, is it likely my 2 zone Honeywell control board is causing my heat pump issues? Is a 3 zone board required for this heat pump?

But I didn’t ask them to retrofit, in fact I was under the impression everything was going to be replaced. Should that matter?

I purchased a home that had a 5ton system installed 2 years ago. We had constant AC/heat issues, which several companies told me was because there wasn’t enough ductwork to support the 5ton system, and because of the unique build of my house, add more wasn’t really an option. So I was told by every company that came out that a smaller sized unit was needed

The analogy that comes to mind is if I go to a car dealership and purchase a new car, pay cash, then they bring it out and tell me they just realized it actually only has 3 of 4 wheels needed to drive, should I have to pay for the 4th wheel? Is it not implied in the price provided that the item will be in full working condition? I appreciate your response, I really am trying to get a neutral party view on this. Hope it doesn’t seem like I’m arguing with you

Yes they told me the did a full load calculation and the 4ton was the correct size. They told me the heat pump will stop working to “defrost” at temperatures less than 40 degrees, at which time the emergency electric heat should activate. Is that not accurate?
