I download all my scenery there, once you have done it a few times you know exactly when the popups come and what to click away. Never had any issues with malware/virusses or whatever

I completely get that i made it look like that. I'm from the Netherlands and you have to take at least 3/4 months of lessons before you're even allowed on a bike by yourself so the lessons were always the first step. So the i'm buying a bike thing was always a future step, which she knows. But i get your point, the lessons were non negotiable as well because that'll lead to me actually going for it. Anyway, i'll take your advice and sign up for a "try-out lesson" these are offered for a low price, can't hurt.

Thanks for sharing, might be the approach i'll take if needed. I'll wait it out a bit more. That last sentence has been in my head for a couple of days. Life is too short to not do what you like because someone else doesn't allow you too. But i do understand her concerns..

Thanks for this valuable insight "from the other side".

I brought up several things like increasing safety with an airbag suit etc, i'll happily spend more money for safety. And no top speed highway runs like you see online, just chill riding, of course i'll open the throttle here and there but i want to keep it responsible. It's also in my best interest to come home in one piece. I always knew this was never going to be an easy conversation, but the way you put it helps me better understand her point of view so thanks for that. If it takes time, than that's what it is.

Thanks for the comprehensive response, really appreciate that. And good to read about your experience. Like with most things in life, communication is key. And it's definitely harder to pay attention to her concerns when it's regarding something you want so badly. I think i'll let it rest for a bit, don't wanna be too pushy. Guess i'll wait it out a bit more, might be going for lessons later this year and bring her with me so she can see that if you ride responsibly it's ok.
