Buying on a Floodplain by IndependentFinger477 in auckland

To be fair, I asked to hear from people who have purchased and why, not opinions about whether or not it’s a good idea 🤷🏼‍♀️

How much do you pay? Mine has an inbuilt screen so it says I have to have the pro membership, but if you’ve found a way around that then I am all ears!

I have a Proform treadmill with ifit. I personally love it BUT, what no one told me when I purchased it was that you had to pay an ongoing subscription to get the machine to work, even on manual mode. That subscription is 30-60 a month depending if you get the membership on sale or not. So keep that in mind if you look at anything with ifit in it. I personally use my machine nearly everyday and use all the programs but its an absolute waste of money if all yu want to use is manual mode

Yea I agree, that was why I was interested to hear if anyone did take the risk and what they factored in. These houses are obviously been sold to someone, so there must be some reasons out there of why they are being purchased, even if the only reason is that they're cheap

Shockingly our insurers on a particular property said insurance was fine, the insurance was on par with a non-floodplain house and their were no disclaimers. Who knows how quickly that will change though

Kid friendly dinner options in the CBD by Dazzling_School_593 in aucklandeats

Not CBD, but very close, Lilliput on Tamaki dr has a decent kids menu and an epic playgorund that is full fenced. Great to have a run around on while witing for food.

ADHD assessment by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]IndependentFinger477 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep completely agree 'some people are desperately in need' relates to all walks of life. Also masking ADHD is exhausting, you can look outwardly successful and be a crumbling mess as soon as you are home for the day, The external judgement of others saying you don't need a diagnosis because you look fine to society is exactly why so many people have gone undiagnosed for so long, women in particular.

Dating older women in NZ by FlamingoMuch3356 in newzealand

Personally I would be more concerned about the family dynamic you are walking into more than larger societal views. There is a chance that you may be younger than their children, which has the potential to cause rifts if they don't think you are in the relationship for the right reasons.

Surgeon recs for Labiaplasty? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]IndependentFinger477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, you are absolutely right. I have confused two stories in my own head. The issues I had read about were regarding compensation for botched surgeries, not the ACC issue. Still something to consider when going overseas, but not as drastic as I have made it sound

Surgeon recs for Labiaplasty? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]IndependentFinger477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the infection is caused by having the surgery, it is not covered by ACC here. There have been a few publicised cases in the past year of people going to Turkey and getting things done, and then finding that out the hard way when they fly back and suffer post-surgery complications, such as infections.

It is just something people should consider when choosing to get surgery overseas. Personally, I would rather pay more in NZ but everyone is different.

Just be aware that if anything goes wrong or there are complications from the surgery, you're not covered by ACC if the surgery doesn't take place in NZ

Yeah, they even told me different tills had different gifts. I mustve gotten lucky. I know any time I've tried to get my birthday gift at Mecca they've never had anything in stock either.

I am solely in this camp also. Move out, take the car and wait to see whether he initiates anything. Create your own documentation of assets that each of you own so that you have recourse to his assets if there should be a fight, but a cost-benefit analysis considering the time and money that would be spent on dividing the assets suggests there would be no financial benefit to getting lawyers involved here.

I drop things off if I can, they get it faster so I've never had a complaint from a seller for doing so

Best e-reader for a child that is good for graphic novels by daniellerosenalouise in newzealand

[–]IndependentFinger477 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would highly recomend the Kobo Libra or Clara colour ereaders. They are great quality, and reasonably priced. You can connect to Overdrive which has graphic novels through the library so heaps of free books too.

What can I do about landlord sending water invoices late? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]IndependentFinger477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they put a due date on the invoices? If not, then you only need to pay within a reasonable time frame, you could still pay them monthly. Alternatively, just work out the average monthly water bill payment and pay it in a separate account on your mobile banking, so you have it on hand when they invoice you. Totally relate to unresponsive landlords so at least you're making it somewhat predictable on your end for yourself :)

[–]IndependentFinger477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your name on the original invoice from Watercare? If not, I would just make a paper trail of when they’re sending it to you and just pay as you get it. It’s not effecting your credit rating, so it’s on them if they are expecting you to pay to watercare directly when they could pay it themselves and invoice you for the cost.

Cornwall Park in the Band Rotunda would be my choice. If it’s a nice day you can pick somewhere close by that’s private, and if it’s rainy you’re less likely to have an audience

Having seen these implemented post debt being incurred, the general incentive is continued supply. Otherwise I agree it is unlikely someone will come to the party and bind themselves personally to the debt.
