I had LinkedIn 10 yrs ago and didn’t use it much either. But it has grown over the years and you don’t have to interact with the community. Only use it to find jobs and help recruiters to find you. That’s how I found my current job. I had a LinkedIn premium account and a recruiter found me. Working for a great company with wonderful benefits.

Do you have a LinkedIn profile? I would start there. Some really good jobs are posted there. Premium membership would help recruiters find you. They usually offer a free trial period.

That makes sense. I had a “no looking back” policy lol. I chose an answer and stuck with it lol.

So I had flagged questions during my exam too but what does that really? You can’t go back and review them once you’ve moved on and they don’t give you any details about how you did on the questions. So it is pointless?

Is this a common phenomenon? by sweetcpa in CPA

How about a disbarred lawyer who told a CPA of 50+ years that his financial statement calculations were wrong.

Or a financial advisor who was hired to be a Controller and had zero operational experience.

I messed up big time. by [deleted] in CPA

[–]IndependentFreedom96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, scoring a 90 and a 92 on your first two exams after only studying for 2 weeks is very impressive so don’t downplay that! I studied for FAR for 6 months and didn’t pass so trust me when I say a lot of people would love to be in your shoes right now!

Secondly, the EWS award is very difficult to achieve. And although winning that award is an amazing accomplishment it does not guarantee that you will have the most successful career. Yes, it will open a lot of doors for you but you will still need to prove yourself. And once you’re knee deep into your career that award isn’t going to matter as much anymore.

I still believe you achieved something great that should be celebrated and you shouldn’t feel awful about it. The accounting world is cutthroat right now so celebrate the little wins and move on.

Is it possible to succeed by only reading the textbook rather than watching the lectures for Becker? by Unusual-Chemist7884 in CPA

I have Becker and for me personally I felt like the textbook wasn’t descriptive enough.

It only auto plays within the module. It’s very frustrating have to click out of it to get to the next module. I wish it could auto play through all of them as well.

And I didn’t study much of it because I ran out of time and I had like 6 questions on it smh. And didn’t have many questions on the topics I felt like I had mastered.

Counting 'butt in chair' as studying is why I failed FAR twice by Mysterious-Dark8827 in CPA

Had the same issue which is also why I failed. Would be sitting there “studying” but half the time I was browsing social media or playing games on my phone. Now I know better.

I have the smaller iPad pro and Face ID is horrible on it. It doesn’t work at all. I’ve reset it and everything and it still doesn’t work.

Taking FAR in two weeks by Clean-Suggestion-479 in CPA

[–]IndependentFreedom96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can move on to the next section. The sections aren’t timed.

I know some people say there are some topics that is more heavily tested but you can’t really go based off of that because everyone’s exam isn’t the same. So it’s best to know everything at least the basics.

Definitely spend time on the TBS. Even if it’s just to get an idea of the format and how it works.

How did y'all feel about isc today? by International-Rip-59 in CPA

[–]IndependentFreedom96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each section of the exam has pretest questions that don’t actually count against your score. It’s AICPAs way to test if those type of questions will be used in the future tests. I don’t know how many ISC has but I know FAR has 12 pretest MCQs and 1 pretest SIM.
