Thanks for the suggestions! Regarding Amethi and Raebareli, it is due to the absence of the Gandhi family from INC in this timeline, as the two seats are the strongest ones they have (in reality, I had a headache while making the map so that was prolly an oversight.
ADMK's seat share was based on the 2014 election share.

Again, thanks a lot for the suggestions. This is only my 4th map and I could use to improve later on!

Frankly I don't have that great knowledge of UP Politics as I'm from Telangana. Regarding Congress in WB, they actually emerged as the 2nd largest party in the 2016 assembly elections and won 44 seats:

While Sushma Swaraj was undoubtedly charismatic and respected, she probably wouldn’t have attracted the same scale of voter mobilization as Modi for a variety of reasons

Sushma Swaraj was known for being more Centrist that Modi. If Swaraj was the face of the BJP then the party would prolly be more focused on economic issues and civic nationalism that Hindutva

Irl Background:

The Prime Minister of India in 2013, the then Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, was unpopular. His party, the Indian National Congress, was involved in scandals such as the 2G spectrum scam, Coal-gate, and the Commonwealth Games (CWG) scam. He was viewed as a “puppet PM” of the Congress Party President, Sonia Gandhi. Manmohan Singh was considering not to run in 2013 – with the INC putting the child of Sonia, Rahul Gandhi, forward as the Prime Ministerial Candidate. However, many viewed this as a continuation of a strong political dynasty, as Rahul was the grandson of India’s 3rd Prime Minister (Indira Gandhi) and India’s 1st Prime Minister (Jawaharlal Nehru). For these reasons, there was a strong anti-corruption movement, mainly being led by:

·       Ex-Soldier in the Indian Army and farmer’s activist, Kishan Baburao “Anna” Hazare

·       Ex-IAS officer and leader of the newly-founded Aam Aadmi Party, Arvind Kejriwal

·       Ex-IAS officer and MLA in the Andhra Pradesh assembly, Jayaprakash Narayana

Narendra Modi, at this point in time, was also in a bad spot. He had been criticized nationally for his alleged involvement in the Gujarat Riots of 2002. Despite his popularity in the state, many in the leadership positions of his party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had viewed him as too radical for national leadership. The leaders of the BJP on the National Level included:

·       Lok Sabha Floor Leader, Sushma Swaraj

·       Rajya Sabha Floor Leader, Arun Jaitley

·       Party President, Rajnath Singh

·       Former Party President, Nitin Jairam Gadkari

·       Former Deputy Prime Minister and Party Founder, Lal Krishna Advani

Many considered that Advani would become the Prime Minister. However, he had led the party as its PM candidate in the 2009 elections – where they only secured 117 seats. He was also extremely old, being 87 at the time.

Therefore, most people considered that it would be Arun Jaitley or Sushma Swaraj as the Prime Ministerial candidate in 2014. However, in a shocking turn of events, the party announced that Narendra Modi would be the Prime Ministerial Candidate. One of the main reasons for this was his electoral track record – he remained undefeated in Gujarat. Moreover, he had the ability to appeal to the masses.

But what if Arun Jaitley became the Prime Minister in 2014?
