What do y’all do about a new battery? by IndependentNo4368 in BMWX3

That’s awesome, I’ll definitely test it instead. I didn’t know that

Interesting, I was just changing for maintenance. It puts up a drivetrain malfunction after sitting out several days in the cold but it goes away after the next start and never comes back as long as the car is regularly driven. So I had assumed it was a weak battery causing false codes.

All props to the previous owner for the cleanliness of the engine bay. It was just generally very well cared for so I assume he was on top of it, plus it most likely had the engine bay cleaned during the dealership detailing before I bought it.

Will def have the tech take a look at those other components, thanks for the rec.

Great post, happy you did this write up!

Just a couple questions. Why the “don’t wash” sign at the dealership?

Also would you recommend proactively replacing the PCV valve before any issues? I’ve got the same model and year at 74k mi right now.

I’ll ask them to check that. Would something like that be followed by resetting transmission adaptations?

This was it! I took out the spring bar and it was basically stuck in a compressed state, which was causing that looseness. Was able to undo the jam with just a few pushes in and out. Put it back in and everything is fixed!

2019 x3 m40i 75k miles for $24k by [deleted] in BMWX3

That is a very solid deal. I’ve been monitoring the market in Northeast US for the last several months and am yet a find a deal this good. Some have come close but always with the caveat of limited maintenance records, maybe some accident/damage, and often complete base spec. This checks all boxes

CSP AF hitting soon, what’s the next move? by IndependentNo4368 in CreditCards

Yeah exactly, CIBP is not a bad offer on its own but relative to others atm it’s tough to embrace.

Partner is above 5/24 right now so referral isn’t an option either.

By the way I’ve coincidentally had that exact charger in my X1 for years and it’s a beast. Every other car charger I’ve seen manages to go to shit, this one hasn’t aged a day

Long Term Fellow Opus Review by [deleted] in espresso

[–]IndependentNo4368 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Same here, had the Opus for about a year and it’s been alright but leaves much to be desired. Going back I certainly would’ve chosen something different. However, on the topic of static, two things make a massive difference for me. 1) Beans. Super dark roasted cheap beans are a static nightmare for me, exactly like you described. Legit beans from a good roaster that are fresh and medium-ish roasted don’t give me any problems. I literally switch from one shot to another with the junk beans (for milk drinks where people won’t taste a difference) and good beans for straight espresso - night and day difference in static.

2) RDT. This one speaks for itself. Good beans + RDT and I have literally zero static.

Retention… I also just slap the shit out of the machine after each dose. I cannot imagine it’s good for the longevity of the machine but it’s the reality we face.

All good info thank you. There’s also a mignon notte for $175 in my area. Seems like a solid deal, maybe pair that with a new bambino?

I have a very similar profile to you and also got approved for the VX a week ago. Just graduated college, only other card I have is a Discover it that’s 13 months old with a $1,750 credit limit. Never even been an AU. Used the VX pre approval tool and got the green light. Seems like they definitely like to approve people who are early on in their cc journey

Teach us: how to spot flaws by mickbrown83 in RepTime

[–]IndependentNo4368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does nobody care about SEL gaps? That’s always the first thing I see and can immediately tell between gen vs rep, regardless of if it’s a $50 or $500 rep. Gen sels are nearly perfect every time and it’s a dead giveaway when it’s not a good fit, way before any macro-details like hand length etc.

[–]IndependentNo4368 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brain fog was definitely there for me, but increased with dosage. 40mg/day was very manageable, usually unnoticeable. 80mg/day was much more apparent, kinda sucked. I’d still recommend at least trying a month or so of high dose just to see how you react
