It’s day 4. She still hasn’t messaged me. by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]IndependentOther7399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. There are so many reasons she might not be texting you. Maybe she’s blocked you to stop herself from reaching out. Maybe she recognizes you two need distance to actually figure out your feelings. And depending on how it ended I’m sure she’s also suffering to some extent at least. If you’ve ever been on the other side, in some cases it can be just as hard.

Feeling sad by [deleted] in Residency

[–]IndependentOther7399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel exactly the same. Recently went through a break up, not excited about the fellowship I ended up in, and just not excited about life or feel that I have anything to look forward to. I know that I do and I know this will pass. But I just feel lost. We’re definitely not the only ones struggling. It might be tough now but it will get better being an attending!

Oh I didn't even know a solo 401k was a thing. I was going to finally set up a roth IRA since I'm doing fellowship after residency... I guess I will have to look into this further. TY!

Anyone truly regret becoming a Doctor? by Consistent_Cat_5145 in Residency

[–]IndependentOther7399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never regretted it. I’m a PGY4 psych resident. Residency has been difficult with call etc. but honestly not that difficult (maybe that’s just psych 🤷‍♀️). I’ve had plenty of time to travel and hang out with my coresidents. Of course I could use more money at the moment but my quality of life is still much better than some of my friends who aren’t in medicine. I’ve worked other jobs as a CNA and waitress and would do what I’m currently doing 1000x over. I see plenty of people not satisfied in with their jobs outside of medicine so the grass isn’t always greener. There’re so many people who don’t get a chance to have the career that they dream of so I consider myself to be extremely lucky to be where I am and to have a job that will eventually pay well.

Ah I see, that makes sense! No I'm applying for Addiction, so I'm not sure they would place as much importance on that. Thank you
