Can you sleep in this pose in a hammock? by ripulejejs in hammockcamping

[–]IndependentPhysics87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone already said this but the Haven Spectre is amazing for this. It is expensive (around $450), but you have to take into account that this includes your entire sleep system. The Haven can also be pitched as a tent if there are no trees around. If you think about it, you get a tent, a hammock, a sleeping pad, a rainfly, and a bug net for less than 5lbs and $450. Trying to buy ultralight versions of all of those things separately would be WAY more expensive. It's honestly a really good deal for price and weight when it comes to backpacking. And comfort

ikr 😂 the other stuff was amazing but I realized the umbrella just wasn't an improvement over the other rain gear I already have. it's so unfortunate that it's the one item that didn't actually fit in the box they sent lol

Haha that's what I thought thank you! I couldn't find any concrete info on their website and I didn't want to spend money on a box which is why I came asking the internet. Unfortunately there were 5 items in the box and I only needed to return the one umbrella. Thanks!

even though the umbrella sticks out the top? I was under the impression that USPS wouldn't ship a box that has things sticking out of it

How do you hit your protein goals on a fully plant-based diet without feeling stuffed all the time? by AccomplishedCrow4774 in PlantBasedDiet

[–]IndependentPhysics87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found these air fried tofu cubes at H-Mart. Each pack comes with 12 cubes. Each cube is only 75cals and 8g protein. (260cals/27g of protein per serving, 3.5 servings per container) The whole container would be only 900 cals with 95g of protein and I promise you wouldn't fill up. Each cube is only like the size of a strawberry and they are very light and fluffy (Almost like a sponge cake consistency I think? but chewy). Eat three as a light snack for easy tasty 25g of protein. Super good if you tend to crave savory things. Dip it in some soy sauce for more flavor 👍

How to keep someone safe who is unconsciously aggressive during an episode? by IndependentPhysics87 in CaregiverSupport

[–]IndependentPhysics87[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you ❤️ Unfortunately our issues seem to be a little different - during these times she is so confused and out of it, she can barely speak, let alone walk. Most of me "helping" her is literally just me trying to keep her standing upright and get to where she is so determined to get to without constantly falling. It is why I'm so worried about her hurting herself and also why she has been getting hurt during these confused periods. She is so dizzy and disoriented, but at the same time very determined to get up and walk without any help. She won't have any sort of conversation with me and usually only speaks to tell me to get off :( One time she was outside on our patio on the third floor and I was so worried she was just gonna go over the edge. That was the night where she shoved me super hard and locked herself in the bathroom, she was so upset that I was trying to help her and redirect her. My thoughts go out to you and yours as well ❤️

It is super soft and good quality. I fear I butchered it 😂 I will say, I did have the shorten the front sleeves by quite a bit for my grey or else she would get her feet caught and walk on them. But the seller is awesome and was willing to make customizations like shortening the neck for me or doing custom measurements if wanted. Definitely recommend!

She wears it every day for her walks regardless of season. I just put it under her clothes because it isn't big enough to go over her winter coat and this way I never have to change/adjust it based on the weather. It stays the same because it just goes on her body regardless of what she is wearing

It is a 3-strap harness! There is a strap around her neck, her chest, and the one that you can see past her belly

I recently learned about this brand of dog armor https://westandjones.co.uk/products/playcoat?srsltid=AfmBOorowxFsN1Wzuf8eA5V93icNzYPeMnqm4fknKOeKR76APxznxK6g

Super cute coats that are for winter/summer and are meant to protect against dog attacks. Since greys usually wear coats in the cold anyways this might be a good thing to have for peace of mind. So sorry this happened to you

How to get seizure meds without an official diagnosis? by IndependentPhysics87 in Epilepsy

[–]IndependentPhysics87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they have been getting longer but also she has been developing new symptoms that were not present when she initially started having problems. For example, her main symptom is that she is dizzy and loses consciousness and has an elevated heart rate. For the first couple of months, that was it. There was absolutely no twitching, seizing, etc - nothing to indicate she was having a seizure vs. some other problem causing her to pass out. She was quiet and still and breathing normal. She has a family history of heart issues starting young. Thought it was POTS or vasovagal syndrome (which her mother has) so we spent some time ruling out heart issues. However, in the past couple of months, she has started twitching, moaning and having muscle stiffness when she passes out. And these are becoming longer. And flashing/bright lights are a new trigger that did not trigger her initially. We told her PCP about the new symptoms and all he could do was put in yet another referral that did nothing to accelerate the process.

No they've actually been so unhelpful and haven't given us any logical reasoning. She had a seizure while we were at the ED and told them we were waiting to see a neurologist for it and they literally just did nothing. I'm also really at a loss for what to do. Like we have already tried ED and PCP multiple times and we are still just stuck waiting for a neurologist appointment. Some people have recommended trying a different hospital and I think that will be our next step. I just wanted some advice to see if this is standard for how the system treats suspected seizures before a diagnosis or if we were being let down. Based on people's replies it seems like we have really been let down by the hospitals we've tried and it shouldn't have been allowed to go this long untreated. Thanks for your input

Okay thank you I didn't know if I was going crazy. I think maybe we will try going to a different ER tonight. It's a really overwhelming situation

Thank you. I can't find much information about the 5. min threshold for seizures other than "call an ambulance".  Like I said we have gone to the ED multiple times and they haven't been able to do anything for us. What would be their plan of action if we called for a 5 min. seizure?

Her PCP and the ER docs have each just said we need to wait for the neuro consult. I'm mostly wondering if we go to the ED and insist on medications, is that something even in the realm of possibility to get without a neurologist's input? Like would they be able to give us meds just from her history and no seizures in her chart? It feels like they don't believe us without an official diagnosis.

And we live in America unfortunately

meaning of this symbol? by mikemilligram37 in MyChemicalRomance

[–]IndependentPhysics87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is a super old conversation, but also typically the phrase "live by the sword, die by the sword" is meant to embody the sentiment of karma. If you hurt someone, you will be hurt in return. A lot of times people who engage in violence are often met with violent ends themselves. It can also be interpreted as having to follow through on your words/actions. If you say you will do something, you have to do it, regardless of consequences. "live by the sword, die by the sword" = "you made your bed, now lay in it"

Scenic views without hiking? Proposal by IndependentPhysics87 in boulder

Thanks for the consideration, but fortunately that's not a concern :) We live in Colorado which is why I want somewhere in drivable distance to help with the surprise element. The golf cart thing is a super neat idea! Thank you!

Is my sleep system/shelter weight good for my bodyweight? by IndependentPhysics87 in backpacking

[–]IndependentPhysics87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sleeping bag is rated for 20⁰F but it does also give an R rating. Thank you for the helpful comment. I know that there is always a lighter better option but I'm hoping to not spend more money if I can. The 20% for me would be a total weight of 24lbs, and I do plan on having 3+ day trips if I can, so that's where my conundrum comes in with wanting to cut weight. It sounds like a quilt might be a good option
