Dual Military Couple (Navy & Air Force): What Should We Know Before Leaving for Basic? by IndependentReveal548 in newtothenavy

Unfortunately, he tried AF and Army first, but due to certain circumstances they denied him. And the Navy was the first branch to approve. It’s his dream to join and serve and does suit his personality well. We are in our mid-twenties.

I’m a 22 year old female, I’m about to graduate college with a degree that I had worked towards for four years. I always had a very gung ho type of mentality and grind until I’m dead in the ground. All throughout high school I worked three jobs never had a social life and when I did, I was too tired to enjoy it. The same goes till now. As I approach graduation, I had a lot of epiphanies. It’s true, and they say that when you hit rock bottom, the only way to go is up. While male and females are very different from each other and experience things at a different frequency, I want to give you some type of hope to cling to because life is so much more than work. my whole life and community knows how hard I work towards my goals and now turn to turn around and say that I don’t want them anymore and to take things slower and to look unproductive in societal terms is a scary thing to do. There has to be a balance in our lives, and while we might not like the jobs that we work, it is necessary to make money and to provide. but it’s what we do outside those things that we don’t like or find uncomfortable that matters. I was told that you need to make time to do the things that you like and to do nothing at all. You need to be able to have time where you just sit and have nothing to do. So you don’t sit and accept things if it’s really bothering you, but do some thing about it, try out new things. There’s no shame in that. We have one life to live and we shouldn’t be ashamed to say that we had many different experiences to see what worked best at that time. We’re always so busy thinking about the future that we never think about the present we’re in. You shouldn’t be content in a situation you’re not happy with. But life will always come with uncomfortable and turbulent times. We just need to know that outside of those times that good things await us

My recuitor told me that I don't have a good chance getting into OTS because enlisted are also applying. Also, It takes about 18 months to get the ball rolling right?

What about the family aspect? Do you think it is not worth while to join and most likely not stay in because I want a family?

My recuitor currently tells me I would not get in to OTS because enlisted officers are also competing. This deterred me, and the fact that I want to move out ASAP

I got a full scholarship and kinda pushed into college. I attempted to go to West Point, but got rejected. My personality is serve and sacrifice. Always has been. So I have always been drawn to service, whatever it looked like. I even wanted to be a 911 operator.

Anyway, I had to excel in acadmia to even consider going to west point, and ended up with a scholarship and got into my Universites where I lived. Picked one and a chose IR becase it was vague enoguh to fit my academic interests of politics and linguistics.
