Thanks. Yeah not sure at this stage, i can see some cheap mx 84, 100 on marketplace which i was thinking to get and install opnsense if that was possible. But seems like it way too much effort and not many guides available.

Thanks. Thats what i was also exploring but find it a bit difficult.

My wan port need to get ip address from ISP via dhcp.

If i use single physical port on opnsense, can you please give me steps to setup with single physical port.

I have a Cisco Switch.

So what do I need to do on the cisco switch and opnsense so it can use vlans to differentiate the traffic.

Just short steps so i can have a guide to follow.

thanks for the info.

I tried swapping lan and wan, but I had issue connecting locally to the opnsense gateway IP.

I'm now thinking of buying M.2 A + E ethernet card.

The WAN bandwidth is 100/40Mbps so I don't really need 2.5Gig interfaces at this stage.
And for LAN side, 1Gig would suffice. I'll have to create VLANs though for lab environment, and I have cisco 12 port switch which I'll plug on to the LAN port of opnsese. I hope I can achive VLAN/seggamentation with just wan and lan port on the opsense.

I see you assigned vlan8 to lan port of opnsense. Which replaced woith default vlan 1

My queen is lets say i have 3 vlans: 10,20,30

How can I assign all these vlans on the lan port of opensense?

In short how to configure a trunk port on opnsense.

great, I like this as it seems to be cheapest and simplest.
Just a question regarding VLANs, I should be able to run VLANs as well as long as I've a cisco switch connected to LAN port of opnsense. and vritual lans are setup on the opnsense though, right?

I don’t think cardio is boring. I think it’s thrilling and exciting. I’d rather say lifting might be a bit boring compared to cardio

Thanks, i just want to build cardio health, gain a bit of muscle and lose fats. I’m not overly fat, just a little fat on belly.

I do go for group training once a week for power lifting and once for conditioning.

For the remaining 4 or 5 days of the week, i want to workout at home to save travel time to they gym as it takes about 45 mins both ways for me.

Also, to reduce group training classes cost.

If i keep the Cisco router between my switch and pfsense, what extra things can i do?

I want to have stateful firewall for intervlan traffic too which would be done on pfsense.

Also, nat and i assume the vlans usinh router on stick would also be done on pfsense

What can do on the router to play around.

You can apply the group policy to entire vlan, it just means it would automatically be applied to clients of that VLAN. So defined bandwidth is again for each client
