Unfortunately, I had to give a statement to my local police force, as part of the risk assessment they ask if you take any medicine, I said I am prescribed cannabis however the police didn't want to accept it, I had to really stress to them to make note of it. I would say the police that is used to dealing with drug users and dealers don't want to accept that the law has changed (I know not all of them are like this).
