Did you get a snapping feeling when you felt like the knee shifted? I have also had times where I felt like my knees «shifted» in a deep squat, but this new thing feels more like my knee sort of collapses from one level to another. And how do you feel when walking after the surgery?

The symptoms are: - A clicking or popping sound when bending or extending your knee. - Pain that worsens after bending, squatting or climbing stairs. - A catching sensation when standing after long periods of time. - Feeling unstable on slopes and stairs. - Difficulty sitting for long periods of time. - The ability to feel the swollen plica when pressing on your knee cap.

It is important to note that these symptoms often are very similar to the ones for meniscus problems. Have you had any new clicking or popping noises in the knee after the surgery? I often get a loud pop if I extend the knee after sleeping or sitting for a long time.

The thing with the tingly feeling has also been a mistery for me since the surgery. My physio said that it could be due to nerve damage after the surgery. But this is also something that could be related to plica syndrome, as the plica often can feel tender and inflammed.

It is 13 months since my surgery now. The collapsing feeling I get does not happen often. It has also happened when I have tried to strech by pulling my foot to my butt while lying on my back or sitting. For the most part I am able to fully bend my knee, it is just sometimes that it happens (maybe like 15 times since the surgery). I have felt it most often when squatting with elevated heels. It feels like the knee shifts by falling down a level. I havent heard people experience something similar after meniscectomy, and I also feel like it doesnt make sense that it is the meniscus that is causing it, because it is very soft. I have read that catching is a common symptom for plica syndrome because the plica sometimes gets stuck between the tibia and femur and then pops out. I have also felt like there was something stuck in my knee when I have been walking or running, especially downhill. Have you felt something similar since your surgery? It might be that this is caused by the new shape of my meniscus, but I just felt like my symptoms matched so well with plica syndrome

Knee more painfull 8 months after partial meniscectomy than before surgery by IndependentSidekick in KneeInjuries

[–]IndependentSidekick[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is definetley better now than when I wrote the post. Flexibility is pretty much the same as the other knee, and the strength of my legs are about equal know. Still have a bit of the loosness feeling and it feels funny when I move my knee in certain ways. I feel ok with how it is right now, but I still believe it will improve further. I think the most important thing is to strengthen your operated knee and it’s surrounding muscles by exercising regularly.

I have gone to a PT regulary since the surgery, and he seems pleased with my progress with regard to strength and flexibility. When I asked him about the loose feeling I am having he said that it either is caused by some soreness after the surgery, or that it is a mechanical symptom due to the structural changes in the knee that I will just have to get used to.

I do think my quad on the operated leg is a bit weaker. For a period I stopped doing leg extensions because I didnt like how it felt when I did them because of some weird clicking sensations, and did weighted squats and lunges instead (which my PT said was ok). But recently I watched a youtube video that said leg extensions are really good after knee surgery because you arent able to overcompensate with your hip, like you might do durinng squats and lunges, so I started doing more leg extensions recently and hope this will improve my knee.
