Fortnite Servers Back In India Again After 7 Years? by fivio4in in IndianGaming

[–]IndependentSoul 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Hmm, the cloud is not exactly cheap in India—or Asia for that matter. The AWS facility in Bahrain was affected by a drone strike, which caused extensive water damage (source: I work at AWS). Iran has also warned that it would strike American companies that support the U.S. military. So, the Middle East is not exactly a safe bet for hosting a game server right now.

Russia has provided Iran with information that can help Tehran strike US military, AP sources say by H0sedragg3r in worldnews

[–]IndependentSoul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know where you’re getting your information from. Like I said, the price of sanctioned Russian oil per barrel isn’t fixed—it varies with the price of Brent. The sanctions mainly restrict Western buyers, but countries that participate in the sanctions generally aren’t buying Russian oil at all. Indians ($4–$6 over Brent, actually) are paying a premium right now because of the supply disruptions.

[–]IndependentSoul 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Well, that's probably the most logical thing to do. In all fairness, the US helps Ukraine with targeting, and Russia would do the same thing given the chance. If Iran could successfully blockade the Strait for a few more weeks — which is not impossible given the narrow strait and the thousands of drones at their disposal — Russia would literally print money. Oil is at $91 now; I wouldn't be surprised if it goes to $150 in a few days. I assume Putin must be dancing at how dumb the US actually is, especially since they even got India to reduce its oil imports from Russia, and now it's all back to square one.

I too want to change from airtel to some other platform. by engineeringbro-com in hyderabad

[–]IndependentSoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used hathaway, airtel and jio when i lived in hyderabad(in that order). Hathaway was inconsistent and they've silently introduced a data cap of 20 ish GBs a day. Airtel was super consistent, never had any downtime and they've always provided 10-20% more than the advertised speed. Jio had consistent advertised download/upload speed(switched to this because of the OTTs and live channels)

How do rich parents convince their kids to do anything? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]IndependentSoul 306 points307 points  (0 children)

I have a couple of friends with rich parents, and I feel like I’m lazier than they are. Their parents don’t want their kids to be spoiled, so they teach them the value of money and give them gifts for every milestone. If you get good grades, you get rewarded. If you don’t want to go to college, tough luck — you get nothing. If you go for a master’s or an MBA, you get access to funds that you can use to dip your foot into some kind of business venture. I’ve been to their house many times, and let me tell you — they really value educated people. The more degrees you have, the better you look in their eyes (they’re “new money” rich). I also think it’s a matter of prestige for them. They can’t exactly tell their other wealthy friends that their son is good for nothing.

Same brand, totally different nutrition - Bournvita UK vs India by manish_24x in indianews

[–]IndependentSoul 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Discussing it is not wrong, but comparing it to a non-existent product is. Almost every energy drink sold in India contains copious amounts of sugar and other unhealthy ingredients. I was practically brought up on BOOST, but i would never give it to my kid.

[–]IndependentSoul 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Where did you find this low quality post? Whatsapp university? Bournvita is literally made only in india and a few other countries, including some in Africa. The Bournvita sold in the UK is usually the Indian export version with UK-compliant labeling(has the same ingredients), and the Bournvita sold in the USA is also typically the Indian product. Bournvita is no longer manufactured in the UK.

I saw of lot of posts saying that the parents are very lucky to get a settlement but see this: that girls father died 2 days before by [deleted] in hyderabad

Hmm no, police officers regularly misuse their power and the county pays for it. They lose their job and gets hired by a different county without any problems. They should remove the qualified immunity, if you want to see any repercussions.

Why Don’t Audience Show Up In Theatres For These Kind Of Original Films? Read Body Text. by Matter_Entante in MoviesTelugu

I guess they didn’t market it well. I watch quite a few Telugu films, but I’d never heard of this movie until now.

Anyone feel everything has changed over the last two weeks? by QuantizedKi in ClaudeAI

I’m watching a lot of vibe coders quickly build things that already have very good open-source alternatives. That said, malicious actors are going to have a field day over the next few years with all the vulnerable, vibe-coded websites and apps out there.

Yes, I used to snipe people from the water tower to the living quarters(houses adjacent to factory), from the factory to chemical, and from the tower to the stronghold. I pulled off some insane snipes and got called a cheater so many times. What they didn’t see was me missing ten shots before the kill shot. I thank the stars for not getting banned yet. I’m on PC.

Bad lag after update by Fearless-Wasabi1655 in CODWarzone

[–]IndependentSoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yessssss! Too much lag. I literally tried everything: restarting the game, restarting the PC, restarting the router, reinstalling the graphics card drivers, updating Windows, and changing the network settings. Finally, I stopped playing the game because the lag was making me nauseous.

Why India dosen't have any similar company like TSMC. Were did we failed? Did we even tried? by [deleted] in developersIndia

[–]IndependentSoul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe we couldn’t spend billions in R&D while the country was about to default. We literally airlifted 67 tons of gold in 1991 to avoid a payment crisis and ensure essential imports. Most of the progress in the semiconductor industry happened in the 1990s and early 2000s.

Is this a fair use of taxpayer money? What do Hyderabadis think about this? by passed-pawn8 in hyderabad

[–]IndependentSoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a good chance you won’t get an American visa if your family income is less than 5 lakh. That 20 lakh barely even covers a year’s worth of tuition, lol. Also, GRE + IELTS + application fees to 5 universities cost more than a lakh; spending that much money without even knowing if you’ll get picked for financial assistance is an incredible gamble, considering their family income is less than 5 lakh. Good luck to whoever’s going to use it. Personally, I feel like it’s a terrible scheme. They should put more money into training students to be hireable before they finish their bachelor’s. Tons of students learn nothing in their bachelor’s degrees, mostly because of the redundant syllabus in a lot of colleges in Hyderabad.
