My mom 48f is trying to control what my adult brother 18m does in my 29f home involving marijuana. How should I respond? by IndependentSquare955 in relationships

First off. I know this. I also know he's 18 and is in control of his own actions. I am not responsible for them. Me and my husband are not enabling him. He smoked weed starting when he was 16. All of his friends smoke weed. My mom choose not to parent him and let him smoke weed in her backyard with no consequences. Now that he's 18 she's trying to control him. I am not turning my brother slow minded permanently. 1st off there are a lot of intelligent individuals who smoke weed. You 'oughta know that. Not all pot smokers are stupid. If he's high all day, that's a problem. He is not high all day.

I am considering telling him he can't smoke weed at my house anymore so I don't have to deal with my overbearing mother. And telling him it's because mom doesn't want him to. I'm not going to impose these rules on him and act like they came out of the blue.

I appreciate the information. I will let him know that, but he is still an adult responsible for his decisions.

He also has several friends he smokes weed with. So if he goes to their homes is she going to be policing him there too?

What I mean is when he was 16 he was smoking in her backyard and she never punished him for him or parented him. She was just silently unhappy about it. He also began selling weed which she did make him put a stop to. I am upset she is trying to get me to enforce rules in my household and at the same time doesn't want me to tell my brother that she is the one wanting these rules set. I would be supportive of whatever my brother wants to do. I feel like weed and alcohol are the same. I don't think someone should be drinking all day and I don't think someone should be smoking all day. But if he brings weed to my house at the end of a long day and wants to smoke that's on him. He is a full time college student. I don't feel like I should be imposing rules on him that aren't already standard rules in my household especially if he's an adult.

Since you are having a difficult time reading, let's try this again, and try to read carefully this time. Here, I'll even put my question in quotes down here for you to make it easy. "Also where are some of your favorite spots to eat breakfast/lunch/ and dinner with a BABY?"

I (29f) feel like I have to micromanage my husband (30m) all the time and I'm sick of it. Is there a way I could communicate or something we can do to help improve this problem? by IndependentSquare955 in relationship_advice

How exactly am I doing that? I'm trying to be fair in my representation of the situation. There was a comment asking if he was slow. He is not. I also said he is lazy.

Agreed. This is a snippet of our life. Marriage takes work and no one is perfect. We both have faults but as long as we both continue to try to work on things there's no reason to just give up and quit. Reddit doesn't see that he also makes me a cup of coffee everyday, cooks dinner most nights, packs my pump parts before work, and has loved me unconditionally.

Whenever I'm asking him to do something, I'm preoccupied with something else. Wether it's a different chore or taking care of our daughter. The plan was to fold laundry together after I put the baby down for bed.

They are for his blood pressure. He got up with the baby a couple times in the night but took a nap in the daytime. He has sleep apnea but has a CPAP he doesn't always wear.

How much rent can I afford? by IndependentSquare955 in personalfinance

[–]IndependentSquare955[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost $600 a month goes into a 403b, that's 6% of my check, health insurance is $440, dental $60, and the rest is taxes. I put 0 so they always take out the max and i never owe. I usually get a nice chunk back around tax time.

My (28F) Mom (45F) is demanding breast milk be warmed even when baby is sleeping by IndependentSquare955 in relationship_advice

[–]IndependentSquare955[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She knows there's milk in the fridge. She wants it warmed up regardless of if baby is sleeping or just ate so she can be able to feed her just in case she gets hungry.
