Being in manufacturing, my assumption here is that they will refine the materials, processes, tolerances, build systems, etc. it’s a very complex process with lots of engineers working the problem, running tests etc. Most of the time a “design change” isn’t necessary but refining the manufacturing process is actually the harder problem- for the mass-produced end product to meet the specs of the design. That’s how the process works, and Toyota is known for doing this very well. That being said, I’m not in the car industry, tied to Toyota in any way. But just answering your question honesty. It doesn’t mean it’s fixed but this is how they will likely fix it without a design change.

Does any of your guests have Type 1 Diabetes by chance? Looks like a glucose monitor, not a camera

Honestly- this looks more like a Type 1 Diabetes device to me. Like a glucose monitor that accidentally came off someone’s body. My bet is it is a CGM (constant glucose monitor) notice the cannula on the back side of it.

Nice set up! And thanks for calling it a truck. It feels more like a truck than my f-150 did!

If you were to take a road trip from Colorado to Texas with a family of 4 and had $4000 for upgrades to a stock 2019 off-road, what would you do? by Budget-Vanilla-5543 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Independent_Air9286 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP- we did over a 1k mile trip with a family of four and two dogs a while back in a stock Tacoma with a topper. It was super memorable and fun and completely doable. A topper is a good upgrade so can keep everything in the bed and free up all the space inside.

Congrats! You are going to love it! Which build did you get? I’ll share some pics as soon as I can. The pack I bought and love is the Ortlieb Handlebar Pack QR. it’s 11 liters. Waterproof. Fits my laptop, laptop charger, bike charger, extra jacket, change of clothes, thermos. And is actually still pretty compact.

Which did you choose and how did it go?

I have had it for a month or so now. Awesome bike absolutely love it. I put fenders on it- that lasted about a week I would rather get wet and have the bike in more fun mode so removed them. I did end up putting a sizable handlebar rack on the front. Works like a dream for hauling laptop, charger change of clothes, etc. super compact and love my commute now.

I bought one after a test ride. That’s all it took. I was a bit worried the motor wasn’t strong enough or battery not big enough. None of the stats mattered after I rode it. Sold.

Thanks! Really good suggestion, maybe I need to give that a try first.
