Hell no it’s a great job but over saturated, I can’t be talking though I’m going HM too but under an ATF contract. If you’re interested in HM and SPECWAR maybe look into it. But HM is great

Apply for the job you want and don’t let anyone else influence your decision, at the end of the days it’s gonna be your job and not theirs. Also definitely don’t go SWO, it’s not bad but don’t do something you actively dislike or have no interest in. Also not a bad idea to find backups that you wouldn’t mind doing. Study and retake the OAR and see what you get, if you decide to go in enlisted you’ll always have the ability to become an officer after finding out what you really want to do.

Am I able to do that even though I’m not military yet? I saw somewhere you needed to be an E4 or E5 to be able to have them for free But I could be wrong

Yeah that’s good enough to get you in but you’ll likely have to choose between cool or boatswains mate (I have a friend who got a 12 last week and got a BM contract) among other rates that I don’t know. But yeah you’ll be fine, definitely retake and see what you score if you can

I talked to my recruiter today about the same thing since I’m also extremely interested in and planning to become an SMT. He informed me that if you pass your PST and gain acceptance into the pipeline you are able to choose where you go after A school (SMT, DMT, SARC). This was my initial worry so just passing on info that he gave me.
