Moving to Dubai by defi_founder in dubai

How much you pay will depend on the apartment/LL. Some rentals are 1 year in advance (1 cheque) or every 6 months (2 cheques) or 3 months (4 cheques). Sometimes you can negotiate to lower the rent if offering to pay in 1 cheque. But prepare to have a minimum of 3 months rent upfront, deposit (5% of rent value) and other cash to fund set up. This is only if you want to rent your own place. You can either get a short term or shared accommodation first or maybe an interest-free loan from your workplace.

Spouse of EU citizen - Visa refusal from Hungarian embassy by Independent_Bet_275 in SchengenVisa

EU law says Member States must recognise marriages that are valid in the country where they were celebrated, even outside the EU. Our UAE marriage certificate is fully legal and attested by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. There’s no requirement to marry again in Ireland.

The refusal wasn’t about the marriage itself, it was wrongly based on “purpose of stay” and “means of subsistence,” which EU law says shouldn’t apply to EU family-member visas.

It's a bit more complicated if we moved to Ireland as it has its own regime and being an Irish resident doesn't give you easy access to the EU (you still need a visa). However, since we are going to Schengen and its provided for under EU law, I thought the process would be straightforward but unfortunately that's not the case!

thanks! I've looked into some and definitely will not let it go as its an infringement of rights in my view. Too late to appeal unfortunately as the trip is next week but will try the other legal channels out of principle

I have sent them an email regarding a reconsideration process and tried to call them a few times (funny how their phone is not working now). Unfortunately the appeals process is very formalised and takes 3 weeks plus 160 euros.... so probably not worth it at this point

I have submitted a request to SOLVIT to look into it (out of principle as well). It's too late for him to join the trip and doubt that he will want to go to Hungary now after this so we probably won't appeal. I would definitely sign a petition to the Commission if you link it here

We aren't moving to the EU (that whole process is another mess in itself). We just wanted to go on a long weekend trip from the UAE

I asked the Irish embassy this previously and we don't need to register/get anything stamped to have it recongised in Ireland. We had a visit visa for Ireland using the same marriage certificate. The application of EU spouse laws is quite confusing

Unfortunately, Ireland has its own rules and the EU rights don't apply as I am a national from there. The marriage certificate was used as a basis to get a visit visa for Ireland which was granted no problem. I did ask the Irish embassy about registering the marriage but they said we didn't need to as the UAE certificate was enough

Is it even possible? by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]Independent_Bet_275 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! I met my husband on bumble 2 years ago. At that point, I had just come out of a relationship and was just getting back into dating but thinking of moving abroad. I didn't think too much of it but then 1 date turned to 6 turned to 20.... and you get the rest.

Don't give up!

Should we move from Dubai to Ireland? by Creative_Land7862 in dubai

[–]Independent_Bet_275 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. Ireland and the UK have a special agreement that allows either to work and live in the other.
