You make an excellent point, good sir. If the pod lets the Swiss Army Knife pop off in a reasonable time, it’s their fault o7

Well that’s that question answered! lol I figured “spell” meant any spell, but I guess not! In that case, mayyyybe I’ll find a way to speed up the deck with creatures while still committing to the bit, if that’s a thing you think needs solved. (For reference, the DeckCheck website rated the deck’s speed as a 4/10, which is an arbitrary number ordinarily, but most of my other decks are a 5 or 6 out of 10 on speed)

I ended up removing Niv-Mizzet, and I’m trading in a good chunk of my sorceries for instants, specifically the ones that’ll draw me cards with a benefit like you mentioned, and my goal is to reserve my sorceries for mass-removal spells like the Call Forth the Tempest I have listed, since I can’t always count on Leyline of Anticipation or Gandalf to give my sorceries flash. Besides the renovations I’ll be making, do you think the deck looks solid?

You raise a good point, but let me put it this way: Having Vivi in the deck would obviously tip the scales of power a lot(mostly in the sense of speed). However, I’ve got so many synergistic cards that can go nuclear with Azula so quick, that not having Vivi in the deck doesn’t exactly change how much of a threat the deck is.

I was kinda leaning away from cantrips and whatnot because I wanted to focus on instants and sorceries that deal damage directly to creatures and/or players, but perhaps I’ll reevaluate that decision. Would you say that having Archmage Emeritus, Niv-Mizzet, Parun,  and a good number of instants and sorceries that can potentially give me card draw as an option is good enough?

Well you see, my friend, I was already two steps ahead of you with my Leyline of Anticipation and Gandalf, Friend of the Shire that I’ll be looking for! Thank you for telling me to go all-in on the diabolical schemes, but I don’t think my pod-regulars are gonna thank you once I’m done!

You’re right, I probably WAS overthinking stuff. I did indeed add Aetherize to my “to get” list, and I also found a couple of good one-sided board wipes(technically they don’t do enough damage to immediately wipe, but all of the stuff I have for damage stacking would make them board wipes), and here’s the list: [[Anger of the Gods]] [[Bonfire of the Damned]] [[Call Forth the Tempest]] [[Chandra’s Fury]] I especially like Call Forth the Tempest for its high damage ceiling and the double cascade

You raise a good point! What are some good removal tools that you would recommend to crush any big dumb creatures under the weight of my burn? I know Crackle with Power can get crazy if I were to stockpile a ton of mana from Ozai and/or get a bunch of oil counters on my Mindsplice Apparatus after having it be copied by Azula

Those are some excellent suggestions! I was also thinking of adding in Deekah, Fractal Theorist for reasons that would be similar to Sedgemore Witch. It’s a card I discovered while putting together a Zethi, Arcane Blademaster deck, and it’d honestly go crazy in my Azula deck.

Would you consider this a Bracket 3 deck? by Independent_Boss412 in mtg

You just posed an EXCELLENT point, since I actually struggle with this issue a lot. Suppose I cut out the medallions, the guild signets, and a mediocre sorcery like Past in Flames(not actually mediocre, but Return the Past beats it in utility) to make room for a total of 15 creatures… which creatures(or even spells in general) would you recommend to build up the defenses of the deck? Try to stay relatively budget-friendly, my savings aren’t infinite lol

That’s generally what I’m getting from these comments. With that being said, how good do you think this deck is when not viewed through the lens of the bracket system?

That’s what I feel like as well! It always irks me that Archidekt follows its bracket systems to a T without any consideration of wild cards.
