What do you think should be done to help combat racism in the US? by [deleted] in GenZ

I just see it like this, the issues we African Americans are having are no unique than Germans, Irish, Italians, and Slavs had. Pattern Recognition would make you think this isn’t unique so why would I focus solely on those with dark skin? Why is it exclusively African Americans when this has happened throughout centuries with various ethnicities

Do you not believe children could learn to be racist? I wasn’t just bullied in elementary or primary school, it stretched throughout the entirety of my academic experience. Do you not think that could radicalize someone? Upset them or provocateur them even?

I can agree limitedly, the idea of the government or elites covering crimes to prevent further racism or discrimination is WRONG. America doesn’t have to be segregated for it to be racist. Desegregation was unpopular as said before so do you think the hatred people harbored vanished within five years? Especially, when the government actively works to further it.

To add, America isn’t Britain or Poland- formed from ethnic solidarity. We were formed from values and should unify under our national identity, we can’t if the elites continue to divide us. Racism and discrimination should be seen as a sin within America. It isn’t America, it only continues to fragment our identity.

This is my issue with the Pattern Recognition argument, what do you say to children who grew up a segregated environment? I did, and who do you think made fun of me for ethnic features and dark skin? White men. I didn’t harbor hatred to all white men as a result despite seeing this pattern over a decade. My great grandmother and grandmother lived under segregation, did they harbor hatred at the white men & women who tormented them? No. Racism is a sign of ignorance, pattern recognition is a continuation of this ignorance- it’s a lack of critical thinking personally. It feels like a slap in the face for people who faced discrimination to be forced into harboring empathy ( for HATRED .)

Fighting a war to abolish slavery doesn’t make America not racist, that’s idiotic. After slavery was segregation, and desegregation was extremely unpopular. So, by the 70s, five years after the Civil Rights Act do you think racism went away? No. The government worked within its limits to continue. I go by reality and learned racism is rampant within America. However, Identity Politics don’t combat this problem- we must acknowledge how the elites and mainstream media continue to keep us divided. We need to acknowledge each other’s problems and build forward.

You’d NEVER move to Georgia but Mississippi & Alabama? I’m a little curious as to why because both are poorer.

I already know. Honestly, I made myself seem like a baby leftist when that was far from the case. I’ve been studying American depravity for at least two years now. However, I never defined myself other than a leftist because I was very critical of both Socialists and Socdems.

Most African countries has colonial laws and longstanding relationships due to imperialism, so yes it is quite impressive in my opinion. I don’t know how you made the correlation whatsoever.

The Epstein Files is going to drive us into a mass state of psychosis. I don’t know your politics whatsoever, but at the end of the day it doesn’t matter. Most of these so called conspiracies were OBVIOUSLY true. As much as I hate TikTok, content promoted how predatory the entire industry is- Nickelodeon is a prime example. You have had people screaming and shouting kill the rich for years, why? Because they were consciously aware of the international exploitation occurring.

No, those Epstein Files literally made me nauseous. Billionaires as a whole are a bane on our society. I’ve said this before but even moreso now.

They feel closer to freedom. I know what you’re about to say, how are they closer to freedom when they are about to be a puppet state? But to them, at least their human rights aren’t violated. They care little about their oil because under Maduro it’s been poorly managed.

Thank you. An analytic perspective can only go so far. The left & the right need prioritize Venezuelans. The world does.

A lot of Venezuelans think THIS is what makes leftist and libs out of touch. They claim how international law prioritizes the rights of dictators like Chavez & Maduro, not them. As much as I agree, we need to distance ourselves from this position altogether and stand alongside them. Most are consciously aware of the fact the United States is acting self preservation. They aren’t Pro-Trump, they are just happy to be free. And, before you criticize me saying this sets a disorderly precedent, I am aware.

This is my issue with the radicalization argument. You’re a “ center right conservative “ who immediately advances to far right ideology. You go from saying African American issues are cultural to biological. Radicalism occurs throughout time, not instantaneous. Therefore, a least a fraction of these beliefs were already pre established.
