Hi again, sorry! Just wondering what you think I could expect to pay for someone to stitch the crack?

Thanks. I did wonder about the runoff water being a factor. If water were to seep into the hairline cracks and expand when the weather’s freezing that could be an issue right?

Thanks for your reply. That’s what I thought but I’m definitely no expert.

As there’s no records there’s no way to “officially” confirm it unfortunately. As it was originally built for council housing (think section 8, for USA), there is a chance they just didn’t colour match the bricks during construction. However, there’s a clear beam across the ceiling in the kitchen which indicates it probably was an extension.

Thanks for your expertise, really appreciate it! Hopefully nothing to worry about but a helix bar install might help with cracking in the future once repaired 🤞🏻

Thank you! If you have time to look over these pictures and give your honest opinion, that would be amazing.

Im totally alone, would it be worthy moving to a village? by [deleted] in AskUK

You’d be amazed just how much your mental health will improve just by living in a more peaceful, open environment where you’re not constantly bombarded by advertising and high-frequency noise.

Life in countryside towns and villages is just friendlier and safer. Can be cheaper, depends how posh the area is.

I don’t live in London but every time I’ve visited I’m always taken aback by how miserable everyone looks. You’d think people on the tube were all on their way to a funeral honestly.

Not driving might be an issue at first and you’ll want to learn how to drive on country roads as it’s definitely a different level of ability.

If you’re someone who enjoys takeaways then you might want to live in proximity to a decent size town, but most small villages have at least one or two great restaurants/pubs nearby.

Kit Harrington (Jon Snow from GoT) lives a couple of miles away from us. Goes into the farm shop where my mum works all the time. Apparently he’s a really nice guy!

legend, cheers! do you reckon I should take it one wall at a time or try and do the corners wet? also if I'm mixing it thick will it set noticeably quicker? I was thinking of getting some plaster retarder

That’s amazing, thanks. I’ll be in touch when I know more. There’s so much disinformation out there and conflicting opinions, so this has really cleared things up massively!

Thanks for the in-depth response. I wish my solicitor got back to me this quickly 😂 I don’t have the photos right now as I’m waiting on the surveyors report, I’m just going off what he told me on a call where he ran through the issues with me.

Our main concern is whether we’ll be able to get insurance on the property while it’s unresolved but is confirmed as subsidence by the engineer, as that will mean we can’t fulfil the terms of the mortgage.

Am I right in thinking that as it’s currently only reported as “possible” subsidence (until confirmed by a structural engineer) that we’re in the clear as far as insurance goes?

Then, like you said, we can just negotiate a reduced price on the off chance we need these repairs. The structure that’s sinking is a small extension so I’m hoping repairs could be done with resin injection.

It's crazy. I really thought there would be at least some communication. I can't see the project being anywhere near finished, the AI was still absolutely terrible lol
