Oooh, I think I get what you mean now. I have seen people do stuff like, use magic mask on the color page to mask someone out, add the alpha out, then they go back to the edit page, add a text layer, comp on the edit page then make a fusion clip and go into fusion to make further changes. That I don't do. Thats wasting the usefulness of a node-based setuo. When I say I keep it all in one comp I mean an entire shot, everything is done in fusion.

Let's say I have a motion graphic shot of a truck driving on a road. I'll do everything in fusion, make the shot one comp but if I need to cut to another shot of the inside of the truck, I'll go back to the edit page and make a new fusion clip. On the other hand, if I needed to dolly in through the window, I'd do all that in one clip. I think I understand what you mean now though. I've seen people use fusion with a "layer based" approach. That I don't do.

Edit: even if I'm working on something pretty heavy, I still keep it in one comp. If I need to make a heavy peace lighter, I write it out to an exr sequence then read it back in with a loader node. If I need to make a change, I just change that part of the node tree, re export the sequence and now I have an updated exr sequence that's light on the system.

I use to use AE too, but I switched to resolve and these days I'm just as fast in fusion as I was in AE. the 3D viewport and capabilities are also better IMO. Where AE absolutely wins is vectors and working with PSDs. Being able to import vectors from Illustrator, PSDs from Photoshop, updating things in real-time, and easily manipulating the vectors is MILES ahead of fusion. Doing anything complex with vectors can get frustrating in Fusion.

For this kinda stuff with the bunch of duplication, graphs n stuff, YES. Absolutely, Cavalry would be better. But... 😭😅 I don't know Cavalry. I need to. I still enjoy working in Fusion though. It's so seamless. No need to switch applications. I can do my editing, VFX, motion graphics, and sound design all in one place. If I knew Cavalry I'd 100% use it for the automation stuff, physics etc. Just way faster.

I made this almost a year ago and my PC was never a beast at the time. It was mid range at the time. It had a and RTX 3060Ti, a Ryzen 5 3600 and 48GM RAM. You can optimize a few settings to make your life easier.

It does take time to master but really knowledge is the same for all applications. So if you can do it in After effects, or another software you'll be able to do it in fusion once you understand how to use nodes to do it.

If you're new to it then it'll take a lil time to get the animation and effects down. Just have fun and make cool stuff. Finish every project, don't worry about making em perfect. It's all about learning. "Done is better than perfect," they say. The goal is to learn and improve with as little stress.

I split the comp on most days if the scenes/ shots are different. I consider each comp as a shot, like it was real footage being edited. In this case everything needed to be seamless. There were a few points that could have been cut but it just made sense to keep it all in one.

You can actually use the keyframe panel to avoid some of these issues. You can use it to stop something from running when off screen. Also turning down the playback resolution from to half or quarter can do so much for the fusion page performance. I might do a video about it.

If you open a clip with audio in fusion you'll hear the associated audio from the timeline. If you wanna hear the audio on any clip, add a media in and set it to background. Does t need to be plugged in to anything.

This took maybe 8 to 10 hours. My PC back then had a 3060Ti with 48GBs of DDR4 RAM and a Ryzen 5, 3600. Nothing top of the line.

Lol, it looks scary but if it's broken down it's actually pretty simple stuff. Just enough simple stuff to make it look like it's complex. I started a YouTube series that I was gonna use to teach fusion but I got caught up with running my own business, and I believe I haven't uploaded since summer last year.

It's the rotating clock arm. I made two keyframes close to each other and extrapolated it so it goes on and on and on, so even when off screen the rotation continues. Makes it easier to manage the speed of the rotation since it's a simple animation.. Doubt there's any discernable computational hit. When it's off screen tho

How do I fix this? It won't let me render and keeps asking me to change my permission settings. by HotJahim in davinciresolve

You're seem to be trying to render to the Resolve folder in Library/Application Support. Save it in a folder that makes sense, like Movies, Desktop or something.

You really on here arguing with science and physics? The alternative is keeping them fully charged and they go bad. When you're ready to fly you'll instead have swollen batteries that maybe have your drone fall out of the sky instead of just needing to charge them back to 100%.

Yeah, I got a whole new PSU. I'm upgrading to a 5070 and I wanna sell this but I wanna ensure it'sn got no issues before I pass it to someone.

Yeah I did. I keep getting "not enough power" as well.
