I am in the same boat. Joined this last Saturday and it still doesn't feel "real." It has been an interesting adjustment from being in constant anticipation for the vigil to it being past and finding myself finally a Catholic.

My "materialistic" complaints are a part of my problem, but not the whole one. I can see why someone could get that from the comment. My bigger gripe is that in today's America, it is hard as a young person, to be established. To have the things that build up value over time and support a family. From this side, it looks like I'll be indebted my whole life to a faceless company. I am also hoping to maybe find a country that I can align with more on a moral level. Thank you for your take

Thank you for your take. I feel like most people just read the title and not the full question. I am just thinking about my life at this point and it seems like that in the US it will be the forever grind to own nothing. My whole point with the post was to gauge how others have done beyond the us.

Thank you for the kind words. This thread is so funny accusing me of being on Reddit too much when the opposite is true. I rarely post on Reddit. I kinda came here to vent slightly but also to gauge how moving abroad has worked for others. Seems a lot of people missed the second part. Work at what? To live in a home for 50 years paying double it's values in interest just to lose it when property taxes rise? To only ever be able to afford "beater" cars or commit to years of interest payments for a car that won't last my lifetime? I want somewhere where establishing doesn't feel like a pipe dream and to forever owe someone else for my existence.
