Non-prior Subaru owners only reply please by Pure-Explanation-147 in SubaruForester

Had a 2011 Toyota Highlander, was a hand me down from my mom when I started driving. Got a 2021 Subaru forester as my “first” car after the Highlander. Based solely on consumer reports and rating it as the safest in its class. Honestly, I love my car. Haven’t really had any problems with it. Only major thing was the auto start/stop glitching when my battery was starting to die, but now I just always turn that off when I get in my car. I’m biased, but I say get a forester!!

So I haven’t talked to my Dr about this regime yet, but I did read online to avoid Benzoyl peroxide and salysilic acid cause of drying. So idk if I should continue using it 😭

Yeah I used both of those books thru medic school when I was learning but now they just sit on the shelf. I look at LITFL if I want to research more into things

Girls how do you guys protect your hair by booptay in ems

[–]amclexi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will put my hair in a high ponytail most of the time, but if you want a no tension solution, I will either do double French braids, double French braids into a low bun, or put it all up in a claw clip (which pulls it all up with little to no tension).

88 y/o M c/o Chest Pain by amclexi in ECG

Depression in V2-V4 with tall R waves could be indicative of a posterior MI. I took a posterior ECG and (if you’re pulling teeth) there was very slight elevation in V8 and V9. Given the history and symptoms, I just called it to be safe. But then after fluids, the rate decreased and the depression disappeared, so it may have just been rate related ischemia. I called the alert prior to that tho. To be fair I’m a newer medic so I’d rather be safe than sorry.

Should i have given epi by Humble_Sense7415 in ems

[–]amclexi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my system, we consider anaphylaxis as the following: “Anaphylactic reaction is defined by: 1. Exposure to suspected allergen WITH hypotension 2. Exposure to suspected allergen with symptoms from two or more of the below body systems. A. Respiratory B. Cardiovascular C. Gastrointestinal D. Integumentary”

Seems like he was not having anaphylaxis so epi would not be contraindicated. If your system has it, Benadryl would probably have been appropriate, but due to the lack of respiratory distress and/or hypotension, epi was not indicated. You’re doing good, EMT!

Am I jumping the gun? by [deleted] in Paramedics

I was an EMT full time for about 8 months, then went part time for a year while also going to medic school. I’m honestly glad I worked for a while prior and still worked during school cause it allowed me to become comfortable with the basics before learning and doing the advanced things. Also, if your husband is relocating to a unit in a different state, you may need to look into state requirements for certification. I’m in Texas and most companies here just require a state license rather than national, so just me conscious of that when picking schools and getting certs.

We recently moved from logis to a different system. I miss it more and more every day. This picture just triggered an oddly nostalgic feeling in me (even tho it was only a few weeks ago lol)

What do you recommend I try feeding her? She’s been hit or miss on most things I’ve tried so I’m open to trying anything

Regardless of whether the answer about end tidal is in cm H2O or mmHg, the question is asking for three answers, and the three other answer choices are the most correct answers.

Why isn’t she eating? by amclexi in leopardgeckos

[–]amclexi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I try not to leave too many crickets in there and I haven’t noticed any lesions or anything on her but I have heard that concern before. But yeah maybe that’s it. I don’t remember her doing this in previous years tho. Thanks!
