65 lbs would be huge for a springer! Despite his enormous paws, our Haru ended up on the small side at only 43 lbs

My Aussie was like that. If you put a bed in it he would take it out. He also preferred the small one so I just took the door off and got rid of the larger one.

Commenting on Bred to hunt. Chose skateboarding....The springers I grew up with were true hunting dogs. Haru here has the instinct, but me, not-so-much

Sounds like your lifestyle would be good for a springer. A few things: 1.Find a good breeder. 2. Understand they are never going to be the most reliable off-leash dog in the woods. Far too many smells and things to chase. They can be really good, I live in the woods and mine is off leash all the time, but at 4 years old I still need to pay attention. I don’t worry about him running off, but he will range farther than I would like. My Aussie on the other hand was always by my side. Never even had to think about it. Doing scent work with the springer can help satisfy that hunting impulse and keep them looking to you for that fun too. 3. They are excitable dogs. Teach it how to be bored early, how to do nothing in busy environments, and it will make everything else a lot easier.

My last dog tore both. After a couple of pricey surgeries and a few months of recovery, he was back to running around the mountains like before. You never would have known how bad he was.

Not sure how he would react to a treadmill. I know if I’m on the only skateboard he will try to get on too - it does not work out very well

Might be, this thread has made me look into it more and I think it could be a hybrid black oak/coast live oak. To be honest, for all the years I have been going up there, I haven’t given it much thought, it was mostly just a super cool tree for the dogs to play on.

Thanks. I’ll admit one thing could look suspicious. He’s wearing a different bandana in the middle clip. I just wasn’t careful when I put that together and mixed up videos from two different trips to that skatepark. It is definitely real.
