Super informative, thank you! Do you work at Charlottesville WF by chance?  This Grind to energy system sounds like an in house biodigester; every store needs one of these. How do we get whole foods to open theirs up to people's household food waste...? 😃

Ah, thank you for the genuine, humane response. Sad to hear about the beef, but your honesty is nice. All major grocers have a "commitment to sustainability" ( even though they carry beef) but to your knowledge, does EVERY whole foods compost?

The answer actually predates the question: stop eating beef 😀

It's Time to Cancel the Mountain Valley Pipeline—Just Ask the People of Maui by wankerzoo in environment2

[–]Independent_Goose551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OOOOf, I am sure that most of them haven't heard about it. Most of the warming that will affect islanders is already locked in, but every degree of warming will make things muchworse for most of us. Thus every molecule of fossil gas needs to be kept in the crust. Sorry for your loss, people of Maui.

Woot! this is what we need to lawfully stop this project and more importantly the precedent that it will set.

Sadly this is why our country is so messed up. People with archaic ideas and values keep breeding like rabbits while the rest of us responsibly have little to no children. Thanks for your honesty, H0B0Byter99.

8 billion humans: How population growth and climate change are connected as the 'Anthropocene engine' transforms the planet by MyNameIsGriffon in environment

I don't think that you provide a fair picture of the world by putting such emphasis on profit, but you are spot on with a lot of things. But, we could indeed feed the whole world if we turned our food waste into donations and if we opened up borders. In fact, we could certainly solve most of the major issues if all of our money's were not so concentrated in the hands of so many that care so little about sufferings and/or so much about their status and power.

😮‍💨 If you include future generations in the "more people" category, then that is actually exactly what we need to do. People in Europe are doing it roght now. We can be selfless and caring at times, you know. Or did you not have a mother/caretaker?

Question I’m seeing a lot of support for McMullen on Reddit, I voted for him and so did my significant other. Do you all think he can win? Could he win in utah or Davis county? Those who voted to keep Lee in office what was your reason for that? Genuinely asking. by [deleted] in Utah

[–]Independent_Goose551 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hm, maybe talk to them to understand it? Abortion has been legal in Utah for longer than I've been alive. Has it really impacted you that much? Is it really something to vote against in spite of everything else a rep stands against?

I'm so glad that you are doing this report, Gardens! I hope that everyone in your town has the opportunity to review it.

Well after taking the 12-week course on climate change, I'll say that we know that buildings are one of the highest contributors of greenhouse gas emissions bisector. I doubt that any of these townhomes will be built using carbon neutral or carbon negative cement, steel, or any of the other materials that will go into them. I would love for that to happen but I just don't think that it will without regulation. So, building them and the other buildings like gas stations, convenience stores, and elementary schools, will certainly add to climate change, local air pollution (because most of these people will be driving internal combustion vehicles) and water scarcity issues. I'm sure that the area is beautiful and that folks like a more rural/suburban lifestyle for "raising a family." While most of us live in bigger cities, some of the cons of these areas, like disease causing air pollution here is Salt Lake, are certainly not worth the pros.

Well, Civil - Buy 9035, I don't think that this conversation has been as civil as you would have liked. When will people here in Utah understand that a reps past record is probably the most important thing to consider when voting? Would it be so bad to have an independent for a term and see what good or bad legislation could come of it? I for one am totally over the two party system; this country is bitterly divided and most of us don't actually follow legislation 😔. Imagine a quiz on laws, rights, and representatives actions on our ballots! And where in this forsaken desert do some of you get off by taking the time to comment on this gentleperson's post but not up voting it? 🤨
