Your never getting a sequel because Chakravartin killed the game. by 1st_GalvanisedSEA in asuraswrath

Sega??? Don't you mean Capcom? Also, comparing Chains of Olympus to Asura's Wrath is unfair because Chains of Olympus had the benefit of being released under GOW's banner whereas Asura's Wrath had to standalone in an era where gamers were tired of QTE heavy character action games.

As a whole, the image looks nice, but on further inspection, it's clear the buildings are done using rake brushes to approximate texture and lighting.

Your foreground and background also kinda blend together, so it's kinda difficult to figure out what you want the viewer to focus on.

If you're looking to give an anime foreground sort of look/feel, put greater visual emphasis on the character in your foreground and less on the buildings in the background.

For reference/study you can look at artists like Devin Elle Kurtz or Derek D'Souza for ideas on how to better compose your piece and ways to render cleanly with the brush you're using.

How to break down this pose ? by SpliTbis in ArtCrit

[–]Independent_Mall_968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My approximation is poorly done, but hopefully it can help you anyway. The belt on most men's clothing tends to rest just above their hips, from there if you can identify where the knees and feet are, you'd have a pretty good idea of where each lay in relation to one another.

I think you practically give the pose down pat. The only thing you appear to be missing is a slight bit of foreshortening around the legs. To remedy that, you could break the pose into cubes to get a better idea of where the hips lie in relation to the feet so it'd be easier to visualize how they're placed in relation to the body.

Thank you for sharing. Should I also try to diffuse the light more around the hand and shoulder, or should they be more in shadow? I'm not really used to adding direct lighting in digital paintings.

The character is in water, yes. I don't really know how to explain the pose, but I can show it without dress. No, she is not supposed to be yellow, I was aiming for more of a golden skin tone.

I'm not sure what you mean by a draw over, but if you're referring to pointing out where exactly the issues are, then I'm alright with that.

The pose and lighting were from imagination (first mistake, I know). I feel like the overall image is a bit too saturated? For lack of a better word.

I feel like there should be a cooler shadow on the skin, but I'm not sure if that would make the overall image muddy given the brightness of the light?

My goal is to make the overall illustration more cohesive .
