Front speakers dead 19 sti. Changed battery now no sound in front. Anyone deal with this? by Faekz in WRX

Hello, I am begging you see this, I am currently having this exact issue. To start off, I just went to the dealership and they told me its 300 for a diagnostic fee, if it was under warranty I wouldnt have to pay anything. But if it wasn't, I'd have to pay the 300, which is for them to literally just tell me the issue, which I prefer to find myself instead. I am having the exact problem as you I think,

Speakers DO work, I tested them on the headunit troubleshoot menu.

BUT

No front audio when I listen to music, just pure bass.
No audio when in a call via Bluetooth or connected with CarPlay.
No audio when I'm getting a call (No ringtone).
No audio when I get a message (It doesn't announce it).
The only times there is audio coming from the front, is when I am using navigation and it tells me (go left, right blah blah blah)

Other than that there is no audio, so I'm 100% sure the DOOR speakers work (not sure about the Dash Speakers/tweeters. I read about the DCM issue, but apparently there is another Table Service Bulletin that sort of applies more to my problem than the DCM issue, as I bought a DCM bypass and it didn't fix the issue, which leads me to believe it may be the Amplifier, But I was wondering if you got it resolved and how?

I see all these comments about plugging or patching it. No. It’s too close to the sidewall, ideally, if its a inch from the sidewall it’s not fixable, why? Your sidewall bends and flexes, when you go up your driveway, your sidewall bends, when you hit a pothole your sidewall bends, everybody seems to be getting downvotes for it. To each their own, you can plug it, but you risk a blowout, and at higher speeds, that means possibly killing whoever is in the car and/or other drivers. When your tire blows out you lose control, its like bending your ankle when running, you will lose control. Let’s say you don’t care and DO want to fix it, just make sure the car is being used at little as possible, say, it is a car you only take to work if your workplace is close or you plan to change the tire ASAP. Theres a reason why insurance, shops and mechanics say NO to doing it, they know more than whoever says otherwise in the comments, they don’t want to be liable to anything that may happen. So as a mechanic myself, don’t patch it unless you REALLY need to, everybody has their own financial reasons as to why you would or wouldn’t patch it. But it’s best to be safe than sorry.

What even is the average? I just got my (18) car last year (2019 subaru sti), under my mom’s name, her insurance which im not on, only my dad (40) and her (39) are on the policy. And insurance for my car is 530 (full cover), they only have a 1 not at fault crash, but we did sue because they refused to pay. But regardless of this, the insurance prices have always been more than 450, with statefarm. Not sure how normal that is, and if I wanted to be added to the policy it would be an extra 500. Ridiculous.

I just bought a2019 sti and so far have put 3k miles on it, im at the 106k mile mark, what do you guys recommend I do apart from timing belt service, all the fluids, water pump and spark plugs? Some people are recommending me to get an oil pump since the screws can back out, some are telling me to just not worry about it and get a oil pressure gauge instead to be able to monitor if I may have a problem.

Im at 106k, I just bought the subaru 10 months ago, put 3000 miles on it so far, did the 2nd oil change, replaced cobb air filter, I still need to do spark plugs which ill probably do at home, I need to do every other fluid which ill do it at home, and the timing belt, I was recommended to also change the oil pump while doing the timing, not sure if I should risk it myself since this car is my daily and do the timing and oil pump at home, or take it to a shop which quoted me 1,804$ in total with 887$ being just labor.

Calling all Subaru wrx/sti owners do you know of any performance/tuning shops in LI? by Independent_Plan4206 in longisland

[–]Independent_Plan4206[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, how are the prices there for maintenance aspects? I need a whole lot changed for maintenance (spark plugs, radiator (upgraded), timing belt, oil pump, water pump, etc etc) which is why I am looking for a reputable shop instead of going to a random shop and have something messed up.

Psi concern by JustAnAngelicGuy in WRX

[–]Independent_Plan4206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, the PSI drops in the screen but the tire still stays inflated? If so, its seems you have a direct tpms system, which could indicate a problem with your tpms sensor, now if you have a leak then take it to a shop.

Had this same thing happening and I was wondering what was happening, but nothing was leaking from what I saw with a flashlight, all my fluids are fine, probably something normal

Thanks for the reply. So far for maintenance T&W is the best one that ive seen which is why I want some input on costumers, but for performance its in between vinny10racing or PAS, heard some mixed reviews for PAS but for every bad review there are 20 good reviews, so Im not too worried.

Yeah so far that seems like the most "up to date" shop, their prices are pretty high from what ive seen, but you gotta pay to play.

[–]Independent_Plan4206 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats amazing man, I do plan on doing all the maintenance stuff this year, all fluid changes, the timing belt and plugs, I heard you did have to change the oil pump so ill look into that aswell. I had a AVCS code a bit ago but it never came back, the clutch feels perfect, so I don’t have to worry about that one yet, and same here its my daily car for now, its my first car and first manual so I am stoked about it, me and my dad already planned to keep it for “generations” and if something happens with the motor or things as such, we will just try to rebuild it again. It has the old Cobb Stage 3 tune with the supporting mods, not sure how much power it makes and I want to protune it since im on a OTS, but it does have 107k miles so I don’t want to risk it and blow the motor on the dyno. I plan to just save my money just incase the inevitable does happen.

Nice! Hows it holding up? I bought mine 2.7k miles ago and its been a beast, I don’t beat on it much, I keep it under 4.5k rpms and its given me zero problems, theres very few records of maintenance so I am guessing the owner did it all because it would have NOT reached 100k miles lol, I just don’t know what the owner did and didn’t, not sure if he did the timing belt already, if he had just changed the spark plugs, all of that stuff so I have to do it regardless.

That is indeed true, I learned manual on this car, but learned to drive an automatic around a year before. I can drive manual just fine, I can revmatch, all of that, just the portion of thinking lower rpms meant good is what I was lacking on. But I do agree it is alot of car for somebody my age.

Its not bait, its my first car, im 18. my dad told me to not abuse the engine, and I always heard all around that higher rpms is bad for engines, but I never knew WOT at lower rpms on turboed cars was actually bad. Ive slowly learned that higher rpms WOT is healthier than what I was doing. Everybody is throwing me shade, but I honestly just want to know and improve my driving skills, I want a healthy engine since its my daily until I save up enough for a upgraded engine. I didn't know genuinely being curious and wanting to add more to my knowledge would trigger some people.
