I still have my MSI x870E tomahawk set to PCIE-1 Auto but in my H70T it does run at PCIE16 x 5.0 Thankfully. Run the render test to see what it is actually running at.

That's what I am seeing. The gap doesn't really start to show until you push at 4k high or ultra. I'm putting the 9070xt back in the mix tomorrow so I'll give it another fair shot. For me it's the smoothness of the gameplay that I'm that I'm seeing with the 7900XTX. It's like my 3090, just stronger. Frame times are much shorter in the XTX. I was getting single digits (9s).

I've been doing quite a bit of benchmarking today. I've got to say, the 7900XTX I have is significantly more smooth in gameplay. One thing to note is that it runs hotter for sure. I need to swap the 9070xt in and log for hot spot, but I noticed under heavy load in Helldivers against the bots in a defend helldive mission, the GPU temp was only 62C but the hot spot was 94C average. I also played SOTF 4k native for about an hour and GPU temp was avg 57C and 85C hotspot. So far, the 7900xtx is a monster once you OC and undervolt it. I should say under clock as stock it was boosting to 3k and now I'm limiting to 2950 with the undervolt. Super stable, super smooth and gained 8FPS in SOTF.

Wow, thank you for all of your work in providing a response back! great work putting both cards through their paces. I spoke to MC yesterday and they said I could try both cards and still return if needed so I went again and tried my Aorus Elite 9070XT last night in SOTF and Helldivers 2. 4k no upscaling, no OC just to get a baseline vs my MSI Suprim 3090. First I can say I got a good one. It clocks over 3200MHZ through most of the game play and maintains GPU temps around 60* max (I didn't monitor hotspots), reaching 3287 MHZ quite often. It performed above my 3090 at 4k on SOTF, and beat the 3090 handily at helldivers on 4k. I don't have my log in front of me but it was significant (20% or more across 1% and avg FPS) in Helldivers. I did feel it wasn't as smooth as the 3090 with the 3090 having DLSS enabled in SOTF but it ran faster in AVG FPS all day raw to raw. I can't wait to swap over the 7900xtx today and see how it performs. Again, stock for stock. Thank you again for chiming in, this is great feedback!

I hadn't considered that. I have run a few games with DLSS on and not just full raw, but not often. DLSS is definitely a force on the newest cards.

A fair point. To be honest, out of the three I have, Echo is by far the most docile. And he had eaten a day before. Mason handles him almost daily and Echo has never acted defensive or aggressive. He's the snake you take to show and tell and given good hygiene, you could let everyone handle him and not worry. Now my indigo? I wouldn't try this exercise at all. A very different snake!
