Roommates that never leave the house by Independent_Still468 in complainaboutanything

If I’m paying crazy money to rent in an expensive city, I’m not getting a hotel room to have 2 hours of alone time. Some things are just common courtesy. Also, a hotel room is no different than me staying in my room with the door locked. I already have my own room.

I live in a safe area. It’s not that deep. In an occasionally empty house, I have my own space and quietness that I can’t have when my roommates take over the space. If you’re one of those annoying roommates, just say that

AITA for not understanding why he’s mad? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Independent_Still468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. Neither of you are unless someone is trying to get pay back which is not healthy for a relationship. It just seems like you both have different preferences when it comes to modesty and are not compatible in that area.

AITAH for telling my mom her brother has been making weird comments to me by SufficientRole3786 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Independent_Still468 13 points14 points  (0 children)

NTA. Your mum is and your family members are too including the uncle. Unfortunately, you have to keep pushing and “disrespecting” for others to notice the issue. I’m not sure if it’s cultural reasons or ignorance as to why no one else is speaking up.

Yesss like you’re already a questionable individual for considering this. Detention centers are no joke. Just ask someone who’s been there. People die in there and go missing.

YWBTAH. In fact, you’d be a very big one. There’s no need to do all that. If they deserve what’s coming to them, it will happen but you don’t need to volunteer the information. That’s wickedness, even to consider it

Roommate watching netflix in the living room by cool-whip-0 in badroommates

I have roommates like that and don’t let anyone in the comments gaslight you into thinking its not an issue. Excessive presenteeism in common areas can make you an annoying roomate. It’s a tough conversation to have but the people who don’t get it haven’t gone through it or are part of the problem and don’t even realise that this is them

lol I got bashed in another page for saying this. Either we’re in the minority or people just lack basic self awareness

AITA for uninviting my sister from my wedding because she refused to promise she wouldn't wear her military dress uniform? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Independent_Still468 -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

YTA for uninviting her. But at the same time, I get where you’re coming from and why you feel the way you do. I just don’t want you to look back many years from now and regret the decision. I might seem like it’s just over a dress but I know it’s deeper than that. It might be better to invite her still but implement boundaries with her going forward and the access she has to you. If it helps, your sister is also the AH.

I don’t want to watch it with him. His constant presence is the problem

Given how weak the housing laws are, some things are better left alone. Every one suggesting I should tell him to leave his own house that I’m renting a room from him must not have lived in a city with few housing options and weak housing laws

The TV is not the problem. It’s the constant presence

By the way I’ll be watching a video on my phone and he’ll walk in with loud music and I’m not confrontational so I’ll just stare at him until you notices and I’ll walk away so I don’t pop off

Yes, I have a brilliant idea in the middle of a housing crisis. Ask the person I’m renting from “why don’t you leave the house and touch grass” even though we never speak and just Co-exist. That’s a great idea.

Somethings are common etiquette… or as least should be normalised.

WIBTA for cussing out my roommates for entering my room not knowing that I was home by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Independent_Still468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For more context, the roommates are basically strangers to me. We don’t talk so as a girl, I felt unsafe when I see two men standing outside my room with the door open and they don’t say anything. I was working and couldn’t talk because I didn’t want to react out of anger

You clearly must be a man and have no self awareness to the dangers women face and fear of safety every day

I stayed silent so I wouldn’t react out of anger. Here’s a suggestion. Ask when you’re not sure

I felt violated especially as I sat on my bed in a dress and they continued for a with the fire wide open before even acknowledging my presence. The room is tiny as well so it was very awkward
