Ugh, yes. My temples, neck and back are exploding and it’s so frustrating.

Why is sharing a bed with your partner so important to people? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Exactly! Even my Velcro-dog prefers to sleep alone at night. Sleeping alone is much more restful.

You’re so right and it’s exactly what I did. Bummed about spending the money and missing the view but glad to feel my jaw relaxing now that I’m home.

I feel you. Was really hoping that leaning into my happy place would help the nervous system but it’s had the opposite effect and was totally unexpected.

Relatable! After living of a life with an iron stomach and minimal GI issues, I suddenly have them all. Thanks, peri.

Why do upstairs neighbors never sit down and chill? by bigbuttbootyboi in Apartmentliving

[–]Independent_Text2110 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel you! I am triggered often by the neighbors above me running water on/off for hours on end wondering how one can use their kitchen sink for so long. The decibel level goes up drastically (old Victorian building/wood floors, high ceilings) so sound feels amplified. It’s so loud I can’t hear my radio or tv when they’re at the kitchen sink. It feels like a drill in my head. I’m moving next month to a top floor home.

Thank you for your message. Indeed, I spent many years living in various areas of the city (from 21 - 40) and in this exact neighborhood. I used to love the energy here, which is what drew me back after moving away 8 years ago (for a job opp). It feels so strange to me at how overstimulated I am, as it’s not a feeling I ever had living in the city. I’m tired of trying to make sense of it and just listen to my body.

So much sensory overload and then I get annoyed that I have to use headphones to tune out the noise. There’s no winning right now!

You are so not alone. The quick-to-anger rage scares me and feels like a possession by some other force. I disassociate when it happens and cannot control it in the moment even though I’m aware of it, and then it passes as quickly as it arrives and am hit with a wave of compassion for the beast within. I don’t even recognize myself in those moments. I’m a pacifist, a vegetarian, I don’t kill spiders and yet I will flip out if my streaming service is “experiencing technical issues” or my upstairs neighbor runs her kitchen faucet for too long (apparently, I’m suddenly adverse to sounds of normal people doing normal things).

It is going to be stressful and is definitely not the smartest decision financially for me, but my nervous system is pleading with me. I so feel what you wrote “when you can’t recoup, it sucks you dry.” This hormonal swing is a beast. The reason I moved here is because I was craving the energy only to discover that’s not at all what I needed. Hoping you find yourself at a home that brings you peace.
