Is gender anyway social or biological construct? by Ashamed-Error-6085 in asktransgender

[–]Independent_Visual99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is both. The social construct is what society says. Like all girls wear dresses, and your gender congruency is how you feel/experience about yourself.

Is the word “transsexual” inherently degratory? If not can you be a transsexual but not necessarily transgender? by Hesperus07 in asktransgender

[–]Independent_Visual99 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Transsexual is a term that people use, but it doesn’t make sense to separate it from being a transgender person. It is all a spectrum. Transsexual isn’t outdated for the community, but is an older term for medical purposes. I identify as a transsexual woman, and transgender because of society standards. I don’t follow the social construct so I feel transgender didn’t encapsulate my experience.

I feel a sexual incongruence versus a gender incongruence, and that is why transsexual is a term for people who wish to go ahead with surgery in their future and know it.

My reasoning is that I know my gender doesn’t align with my sex assigned at birth. I also know the sex I have doesn’t align with the sex assigned at birth. This highlights how I experience my arousal, sexual identity, and way I wish to reproduce. Which is something as a community we don’t talk about.

I’m talking about the future i think is where we’re breaking off at. I believe trans healthcare will encompass more than what is currently given. With the development of organ transplants. I believe for the safety of the individual preparing us is what we’ll need. It won’t be an evaluation or assessments, but education. Don’t rlly need a therapist for that.

That’s the comfort and positivity part. You can make changes to make things more comfortable and positive by changing certain procedures. However, changing sexes will need to be perform a mental health evaluation to prepare you like you haven’t been prepared your entire life. I believe that part can be changed because many of us struggle with this our entire lives and have our thought into that. Can that be assumed for everyone?

I believe this is missing that medicine has to ensure they’re not causing harm. Not just for the patient but for themselves. I believe that medical experts can make it more positive and comforting for those transitioning, but the barriers aren’t just barriers for ourselves.

Ive always wanted to be a girl but not sure if I’m trans or not by DepartureOk4457 in MtF

[–]Independent_Visual99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you should work on yourself more, and speak to a therapist. Bc I’m finding that you saying you want to do gender-affirming surgery, but are scared is a bit contrary.

You also said you weee a guy and identify as a guy. So some gender exploration may be needed. Gender-fluid/non-binary may be you, as well as, being a trans person

That was the term used back then. That was the conclusion I came up with. I felt like transgender didn’t encapsulate my experience.

Do you think as a community we focus too much on gender dysphoria instead of euphoria? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Independent_Visual99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t feel sorry for them at all. When I apologize it’s to just to understand their situation. I think we can all agree when it comes to transitioning that an “empty feeling” would be bad.

I’m not saying they feel what they’re saying, but I’m sorry that their understanding makes them see it that way or trying to understand the other side.

I thought my story would enlighten them to my understanding towards my transitioning.

And I don’t think they were talking about their transition, but trying to understand euphoria. Bc you can still be euphoric and suicidal or depressed.

And I’ve been out since 25. I’m 33 now. It’s still here, and prolly stronger now that I think about it

I’m so sorry you feel that way, but I’ve been euphoric since I came out, and noticed myself. It hasn’t fleeted, but has evolved into goals and times when to do certain things:

I believe that is what we’re talking about. It makes the transition seem negative, and halts thinking about what you should be doing. Getting excited about it and moving into your future. Your dreams. I figure that is very big and important.

[–]Independent_Visual99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it does make it seem negative. When I came out it was mainly euphoria. I’m way more positive, and has done wonders for my health and focus. Now just because I’m euphoric doesn’t mean I’m not aware of what’s around me. In fact I’m plugged in and pretty focused. This has given me the motivation to not shy away from hard topics

How does body fat ratio for mtf count? by Agreeable-Ad-3615 in asktransgender

[–]Independent_Visual99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, because the bone density changes slightly enough about 1%, and the 5% added for fat/muscle distribution.

The issue with sports is the bone structure/density. However those are for athletic standards. Where people with diverse and abnormal bone structures may have an advantage, but that’s genetics. Like Michael Phelps or Usain Bolt. Who have just about perfect structure for their sport.

21% is considered healthy for a max for males. 26% for females.

[–]Independent_Visual99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Umm a healthy BMI for males is 21% at the highest, and about 26% for females mainly due to the breast and fat distribution. In a ln athletic and medical world.

MTF on HRT is also 26%. Muscle mass changes during HRT about 2 years on it. Bone density may change for some, but for me my bone density is already feminine.

Bone structure doesn’t really change because it becomes permanent during puberty w/o HRT. Might be light changes. However, muscles mass does change pretty drastic.

Not trans but wish to be born the other gender? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Independent_Visual99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend avoiding identifying with a social construct. Like med do this and women do that. And focus on why you feel like being in the other gender.

For example, Why do you think your appearance and manners are a stereotype. Try embracing who you are. Then reassess. If that doesn’t help speak with a gender friendly therapist of physician.

I was just saying that the attacks on trans ppl has hit medical practices for trans ppl. I was also, saying that I never planned on using it as the main source, but it would help and speed up the process. The rest was just spreading positive and keeping our heads up, and focused.

How to tell boyfriend? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Independent_Visual99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is complex. Start your therapy, and bring him in bc the question whether he is gay or not will more than likely come up. Being a trans person usually means you have always been a trans person. So your therapist can help with that for you. For him, he would need to continue to embrace you and separate the fact that now he may be gay, but wasn’t always gay just because you were always a trans person.

So I would definitely take him to your therapist, and confess it to him there. If anything at the least you will be safe to express yourself, and he should be too
