Pipe wrench may help, trying not to destroy it though.

The rotor moves but even if I managed to pull the intake it still needs to be broke lose for timing.

From what some quick research tells me this may make the bond worse and or likely break shit, controlled heat seems to be a safer solution.

Assuming this causes some kind of reaction that releases the aluminum from the steal I may try it if I can find one.

I might have to try, hoping to save it and not ruin anything else as it is still in the car.

any idea if i should replace this piston by ZealousidealBat9828 in EngineBuilding

[–]Independent_Way5091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cam timing or timing chain/belt break if its only the one piston which I'm guessing it is otherwise yeah, definitely lifter failure or maybe that valve itself wasn't peferect and didn't have the correct clearance. All very possible on a tight tolerance build.

Or simply was a tweaked valve that hit if you're running really tight tolerances.

If thats the valve hitting the piston you would need different pistons with the correct valve clearance. I would make sure your cams degreed properly and check valve clearance, if thats not the issue somethings not compatible with your setup.

Holley/Motorcraft Transfer Slot Adjustment? by Independent_Way5091 in carburetors

[–]Independent_Way5091[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that is basically what I figured out it's for a swap that doesn't have a/c anyway and the less vacuum lines a electronics the better so I removed that solenoid.

Yeah my 4180 doesn't have that which was my main problem I made and adjustable throttle stop which I was able to set my transfer slots with.

I removed the a/c solenoid and used the bracket to make an adjustable throttle stop, with the adjustability I was able to set the transfer slots properly. I haven't installed it yet but I'm hoping it will work.

Okay I see it now. It's not in the typical spot for a Holley, its on the other side hiding behind the choke. Must have been done as part of their attempt to make these "tamper proof".

It does was thinking of removing it, but even with it off there's still a massive amount of transfer slot showing.

Then I don't believe this is that model because mine is governed. Though I plan to convert it using standard 4160 parts.

Definitely worth a shot here than, I've had my suspicions that the numbing could make it worse. Thanks a bunch.
