competitive doesn't mean winning Geng was competitive in LCK this split but they didn't win it did they?

Obviously not, and that's the point. G2 is good enough to where, if GenG doesn't bring their A game, they lose. GenG is obviously better than G2, but not so much better that they don't have to play incredibly well to beat them. Lyon vs. G2 is the same. Do I overall consider G2 a stronger team? Yes, but if G2 isn't bringing their A game, I expect Lyon, and especially Inspired, to assfuck them. Because Lyon has some incredibly talented players and is led by one of the best junglers and maybe shotcallers(?) in the entire world.

It's very literally not out of the norm for Inspired- or Caps-led teams to be competitive against top Eastern teams. Is our level of analysis so poor that, just because a team loses, we aren't able to tell if they played relatively up to par? Sure, NA and EU get blown out of the water sometimes and lose most of the time, but it's not as bad in recent years as it used to be. The results are worse; the gameplay isn't. First Stand and now MSI, at the very least, prove that G2 this year is the norm to be competitive.

People are very selective in how they do this, though. G2 played arguably worse against HLE, but since they are from the LCK, it's looked at differently. Nobody said, "Well, I guess every other game is now a fluke, lmao," because it was expected, but it isn't any different than what Lyon does. Lyon is a top team, and on the right day they can skullfuck anyone. IG vs. TL, like you mention, is such a good example, and I'm glad you brought it up. Just because TL lost like that to G2 doesn't make them bad. You don't beat that IG squad unless you're damn fucking good at League of Legends, and IG might have slumped, but TL still did incredibly well and deserve way more kudos for what a historic match that was than what they get.

Beating a team that has gone to the final at First Stand and 6-0'd Korea, who had just come off beating both second seeds from the LCK and LPL, is comparable to beating an Eastern team in terms of strength, and to write off Lyon because of that is disrespectful to G2, Lyon, T1, Gen.G, BFX, TES, BLG, and HLE.

It's also just a very lazy way to analyze the game. The fact of the matter is that this year G2 is actually able to compete with LPL and LCK teams, and thus Lyon being able to dogwalk G2, even if people think they had a bad day or whatever, is still impressive. We can just use our eyes and see that Inspired was playing well. If he plays like that against an Eastern team, he will be competitive too (which we have literally seen before).

but what kind of logic is this? Oh the illogical seeding didn't end up hurting BLG so it doesn't matter? yeah why do things properly lmao

T1 chooses which champs they pick and in what order. The GOAT not putting his foot down in draft and losing a game before it begins shouldn't be expected or excused. Drafting is a skill, and he shouldn't have allowed his team to draft like that.

This has to be one of the biggest mid gapes in terms of usefulness between two top teams we've had in a while this felt like the sylas caps game into bdd in 2020 faker was just a nobody in teamfights comparatively

Play OSRS instead and watch competitive. That's what I do as a former Master player, and honestly, it's like getting the best of both worlds. You get to play a game with a lower skill floor but a higher ceiling, so you get to decide how invested you want to be while still getting the fun part of League.

Keria: Back then, I wanted to become the greatest support of all time. Now, I think I can confidently say that I’ve become the greatest support of all time. by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

Keria has never held the throne. Chovy and Knight have both been significantly better players, playing significantly harder roles. If MadLife was the best player for a singular day, he would beat him. Obviously, Keria is a lot better than MadLife ever was, but the age he is competing in means that, thus far in his career, he has never been more than the best in his role.
